I will be taking my jeep on the beach in OBX next week for the first time and would love to be doorless. I am running 285/75/16 duratracs and am concerned because they sit outside the fenders that sand will be flying in my face and throughout the jeep as im driving down the beach. Does anyone have experience with this or am I just being paranoid??

I have 245/70/17 tires with stock fenders and still get sand in the jeep (along the door sills, back seats, front seats, even the dash). Also depends if you are driving fast vs slow, soft sand vs harder packed sand.

I just came back from Corolla on the 18th. I ran my jeep doorless and topless. Had sand everywhere. I don't think there is anything to do about it.
My friend drove a Toyota Highlander, he had sand everywhere. It's just part of the experience.
Don't forget to air down tires and have fun!

I run 285/70/17's and run doorless in the sand all the time. Some sand does get thrown in the Jeep but never had a problem with it in my face. Mostly a build of around the rear part of the door frames. Totally worth it in my opinion.

Now if I could only convince my wife to drive the Jeep to the OBX for our annual trip (just returned last Sunday). For now I will have to stick with running the beaches in TX

Remove the carpet before you go in the sand. My factory carpet still has beach sand in it from the previous owner. I was never able to get it "clean" so I just took it out. Which works out much better for a Jeep anyway, especially if you plan on having the doors/top off.

Sand gets EVERYWHERE! Doors on or off. You get out you get sand on you you get in sand falls off. The only time I had issues with sand in my eyes was the wind was blowing it 25+mph.

I would also do something I do when I run on dirt roads door or topless. Turn your fan on med to high...Don't turn on the heater or air-conditioning just let the air blow. That will help prevent anything from getting down into your vents. Or....close the vents all together.
