Ow many people leave the bolts off when they put the doors back on. Just got caught in the rain with the doors off so I had to put them back on for the first time. It seems to me the bolt isn't really needed if you plan on taking them off frequently.
I have a hard top only so I take my doors off pretty regular and put them back on. They've been off over a month now but I don't put the bolts back on til the hard top goes on for good. I've had no problems.
When reinstalling. Stand on the outside of the door. I grab the outside handle with one hand and grab under the door (towards the front) approach from an almost 90* angle. You will have a clear view and If you want add some of these .... they actually work pretty nice.

The Outlaw door pin guides IMO are well worth the money..
I leave the lower 'bolt' out (with Outlaw pins on my uppers-always), but did buy the McGard JK door pin locks (around $20) to install 'as needed' for piece of mind (I have soft top only) if I know I'm parking in a bad area, or I get so jammed up on a trail I have to leave it overnight.
I know for the determined pro they won't do much, but for the opportunist thief (which is most encountered) it will be tough to get past the Mcgards, & they only take a minute or two to install when needed..

Also, if you're not doing it already, I always roll my windows down to take the doors off...makes it a little easier to put it back on, and protects the window from my clumsy self.
I'm in New England, and we have 'roadsalt season'... ha!
I have dual tops. During the time of year the hardtop is on, I pretty much don't take the doors off, so I throw the "bolts" on (solely to keep at least some of the salt spray out) - but once I switch to soft top, the bolts stay out.
Anyone know of a good soft door option?! I would ideally like a cloth one with some simple fold out frame so i can chuck it away... The idea is to simply protect when raining, os i can take off immediately again.
