Doors Off - How to turn off electrical?

I did some searching; however, couldn't find anything on this.... On my '08 4dr, when I pull over somewhere and stop, turn off the key, the electrical - windows, radio, etc. continue to work for about 10min or so. If you open the door prior, it automatically turns off everything.

With my doors off now, I notice when I turn off the ignition and jump out, the electrical still stays on - same as above; however, no door to open/break the circuit to turn everything off. I simply don't want the electrical to keep running on the battery for the extra time. Anybody know how to stop this, or should I just not worry about it?

It goes off on own, or I assume you could open your tailgate to break it.

tailgate is a good idea...yep, it does go off on it's own, but after 10 min or so...just not wanting the extra drain on the battery if it's not needed. Good idea - thanks.

Glad you asked this question because I've been wondering that as well. It feels weird to go off and leave your vehicle with the radio still playing. I did turn the radio off once so that other people wouldn't holler at me that I left my radio on. I'll try the tailgate to see if it does anything.

Since you disconnect the power to your doors when you remove them, I'm perplexed as to why you're concerned about power to your windows. The raido will go off in 30 seconds. That's really the only thing that still works with the doors off. The dome light will operate as normal when the swing gate is opened or closed.

We don't like the radio to keep playing after we exit and walk away. Just looking for a way to either trick it or reprogram it so that doesn't happen. I've pretty much settled on just turning off the radio manually before I exit.

This was my initial thought, how are the windows still working when the doors are off? Just messing with ya. I wouldn't worry about it draining on the battery. Granted you have a battery that is in good health, the drain from this period of time will me minuscule. If you simply don't want the radio playing I guess about all you can do is turn it of manually like TR3YNGLER suggested. But I wouldn't worry about the battery.

I was wondering the same thing today. Does locking it with the doors off set the alarm with no ill effects. My radio will play for 1 minute exactly when I turn the ignition off with doors off.

Mine goes off in about 20 to 30 seconds I have a 2010 so maybe they changed something it should only stay on the same length of time as with the doors on without breaking the circuit
