Click and clack are my idols!
My wife's family is from the Phillipines, and they've mentioned how there are of course many companies over there that make cheap knock offs of American or other products that are popular throughout the world.
According to what they've told me, Jeeps get the same treatment--cheap chassis, old remanufactured engine, and generic parts get cobbled together and then covered with a fabbed up "Jeep" body. You can then buy a "new" "Jeep" for $700 or whatever. Nobody really thinks it's the real thing of course.
I'm thinking that's what we're seeing here.
