Yes. There is a solution. It works. It is extremely simple to install. It can be instantly reverted back to stock with the push of a button. There seems to be no downside I can find.
Prepare to needlessly have to spend 300 clams on your new Jeep, when the factory could have just programmed it right in the first place. By the way, it's not DBW's fault; I have had several post 2002 Porsches with DBW throttles and their response is perfect. And it's not like programming it to be responsive is somehow more expensive than what Jeep does, which is a travesty.
Okay, the product is Sprint Booster. I just got mine yesterday, after a similar thread last week (which you should have searched for, shame, shame!
) pointed it out. With installation so easy, I figured if it didn't work, no biggie -- easy to return.
When it came in yesterday at work, I actually installed it in the parking lot before heading home. It's that easy. Unclip the plug at the top of the accelerator pedal, clip to the pedal one end of the pigtail they give you, then clip the back end of the pigtail to the OEM wiring clip that used to go on the pedal. In other words, just insert this pigtail inline between the pedal and the stock wiring.
A second little removeable lead clips to the side of the pigtail and you can just run it up the underside of the dash and stick the end of it into the little cargo net behind the shifter. That has a button and a small light. The light can be red (very fast throttle response), off (unit turned off, so OEM throttle response), or green (halfway between those two.) Push the button to cycle between. Once you are through playing with it you can unplug the lead and just store it somewhere if you don't want it in the way.
So how does it work?
Honestly, it is subtle. It's like HD TV was to me at least. I got HD, thought, hmmmm... pretty good, but I don't see what all the fuss is about. THen, a week later, found myself watching a non-HD channel and I was like, "WHAT the HELL is wrong with this TV???"
Now, it practically gives me a migraine to see something in non-HD. At the Mexican restaurant last night they must not pay for HD because the baseball game was on and I thought it was some ESPN Classic broadcast of the 1988 World Series or something, until Mike Trout came up to bat.
Anyway, same deal with the Sprint Booster. At first I thought, hmmmm... not sure I can even tell a difference. I fear this guy is going back, but at least I will save $300. Then, ten minutes later, pulling out from a red light and having forgotten all about the thing as my mind was wondering, I was brought back to reality with the thought, WOW, the Jeep feels good tonight! before remembering the Sprint Booster.
Then later last evening I turned it off and it was like, "Yuck! Who turned off the HD?"
This one is definitely NOT going back for me.
