Drive shaft help

How much is too much slack in the front drive shaft ? By hand i can turn the drave shaft about a 1/2 inch is this normal ? I just had my gears replaced.

Not sure about any play in the DS but what gears did you go with?

I went with the 4:88's. I have a 6 spd. manual. This made a world of differance in the jeep. i have use of all the gears now. It evens pulls in 5th & 6th now.

check the u-joints?

No slack in the u joint maybe this is normal and I just have not noticed it since the gear swap

Does it move if its locked into 4wd or just in 2wd?

should have been more specific maybe... was thinking more along the lines of the front axle u-joints, i.e. does the play transfer to the outer hubs, or is it only in the pumpkin... the diff can be tight and still show play at the DS if you have outer hub issues.
