Wouldn't know b/c i'm ot taking mine through one! That's asking for trouble in my mind. But to each his own. I'm sure Daggo will chime in here with all the reasons why you shouldn't!

X2

Doesn't your owner's manual tell you not to do it? Mine does.

I wouldn't, just because I love washing my vehicles. And with my new JK, I doubt I'll ever do anything but pamper her

I took my 2009 through both kinds a couple of times, no leaks, but it's kind a loud and scary. Don't think I'll do it again.

Don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to. I have some desert pin striping all over so swirls don’t bother me.

I have not had any issues although Ive only done it a few times. There's no way the car wash will do to my rig what branches on a tight trail will so I don't stress about a few scratches here or there.

It's not the paint job...mine's well-scratched by branches.

But the drive-thru washes will trash your soft top windows. My neighbor has an '07 2-door that's only been offroad once (Jeep Jamboree), and his windows are so scuffed and milky I've wondered what kinda cool photographic effects I could get from shooting through them.

Because it'll scratch up your paint job and soft top windows. Also, Chrysler's got enough Wrangler leak problems without people driving the things through high-pressure water tunnels.

Just a guess.

For what it is worth...My 2004 Tj with soft top went through on a regular basis, until I sold the soft top to a Forum member who is still using it, and yes it was faded but it was also 8 years old. I also take my Half top (which doesn't fit an '04) through during the winter when it is on with no ill effects.

And yes I know this is a JK thread.....My JK has 4000 miles and has been going through the car wash at least once a week. No leaks or problems.

The first time I took mine through(soft top) I was worried about the top bein damaged. So I was watching the top as it rolled over and then heard a loud BANG looked around to c what it was and my driver mirror was missing it broke it off like a twig

At an average of $7.00 a pop you have spent several million dollars on washes....would think at that rate you could afford to have your own personal wash boy (or girl).

I've run mine through both high pressure touchless and the one with the long cleaners that look like verticle blinds. No problem with either of those. I stay away from the ones that spin.
I tend to use carwashes sparingly and prefer to wash it at home.

I prefer to find a fundraiser car wash staffed by cheerleaders from the local schools.
Turn them loose while I sit and watch.

LOL, its a filter plug in for CS5, soft top effects.

I know that's what the OP was referring to and I wasn't clear I guess, the branches scratch the crap outta the side curtains in the soft top more than the soft brushes would. I usually use the DIY car washes that have the pressure washers so I can get the underneath really clean after wheeling. Being in NE Ohio (I know all of us northerners get this), the drive through is the only option I'll consider to get the salt off when its really cold outside. That said, I limit it to just a few times per winter so its not much of a problem for me in terms of scratching them all up.

I go to Mike's Carwash and have never had a problem with my soft top, nor scratching of my windows or Jeep. I bought the Mike's unlimited pass for $40 a month and run my Jeep through there once a day, sometimes two.

No kidding! I pulled the sunrider back on the drive home last night and didn't put it back up for the drive in. Probably roll the rear window for the drive home even. I LOVE global warming (that's s joke before anyone gets all in a bunch about it).
