Drop Hitch / Weight Distribution combo setup

After lifting my Jeep, I've had to purchase an 8" drop hitch to go inline with my weight distribution / anti-sway hitch to reach my travel trailer. Here are some photos from testing it out yesterday. I also bought some hitch tighteners to firm up the connection as my first test run was a little too loose.

It's too bad I'm having to drop the hitch instead of lifting the trailer! Maybe I'll do that soon..

I just had to buy a 6" drop receiver after installing my new LOD bumper.

How does it pull? What is the weight of the travel trailer?

Which model?

It's a 2015 Forest River R-Pod 178. It weighs ~2,800 lbs dry with a hitch weight of around 325. I've pulled it across country last year and have no complaints. However, the lift on my jeep is new, so that was a wildcard. I drove it down to Florida and back yesterday to both break in my new gears ( 4.88 ) and get a feel for it on the interstate. I'm happy to report it feels "normal"- you know it's there but it pulls smooth..

Does the 4.88 gear seem about right? That's the gear I'm thinking about going with. purchasing a 2017 rpod 179 towing with Jeep JKU automatic, 3.5 lift and 35's.

Sorry for the late reply- yes, I feel 4.88 is the right set of gears for my setup. It definitely has the torque to pull the trailer, but like I believe I mentioned before, I can't leave it in Drive or it will almost never leave 3rd gear.. instead I shift manually so i can cruise in 4th & 5th gear. Truth is, it did this before regearing, but is definitely more pronounced afterwards.

Wow! you're still running 3rd gear with 4.88's what kind of RPM is that turning? My shop is ordering parts now, I decided on 4.56 so I would have a lower RPM why not towing.
