dropped keys down the handbrake slot...

The girlfriend just dropped my house keys down the handbrake slot. they slid down the passenger side of the handbrake and are half under the lever.

I can just barely feel them when I have my hand jammed as far as I can. Kinda at a weird angle too. Really pulling my hair out trying to reach them. Any ideas/experience here? I'd really rather not pull the console out to get to them.

Do you have a magnet you can lower down?

That's nothing. I was having mine serviced while I was out of town, and told dealership that I'd pick up after hours, using the other set of keys. Told them to "just throw the keys in the glove box". Well, they missed. They threw them over the back edge of the plastic glove box, and down into the void in front of the firewall. Got home - no keys in glove box. After being assured that "his best man" put the keys where I told them, I pulled out the plastic glove box and finally found them. This was about the fourth worst thing that the dealership did on that trip.

Buy a new house!...

...Or, from the diagram in the WF link below, it looks as though the top panel of the console will, hopefully, just pop off to allow enough access to your keys. Getting the panel to pop back on securely, without breaking off the tabs, may be a whole other issue however.

does anyone knows how to take off the center console on a 2011 JK?

Autozone had some long handled pliers (about 2ft long). Keys were in a blind spot, so after about 45 min of prodding around, I lucked out. Thanks for the help!

Use a wire coat hanger...unravel it, make a hook on one end, and go fishing.

Since they are non magnetic, try a coat hanger and double sided tape

Oops. I see you got them from your post above

What you need is something called a hemostat. Can't tell you how many times it saved the day when my fat fingers couldn't reach something.

Everything I've dropped, I've gotten out with a long screwdriver and electrical tape, sticky side out.

Might not be strong enough to pick up keys, but it depends on how many keys are on the carabiner.

Duck tape on a clothes hanger hook to get it to stick.
