Anybody have any suggestion on the best air filter for dusty environment where the dust is fine! I don't mind oil air filters but i'd prefer a dry one.

AFE makes one that filters down to 2 microns. That should be good enough. I have not tried using it.

Ooh..k. not sure what specifically concerns you, you mentioned "fine" dust.... most dust is.
A good quality OE filter is still the defense that the Engineers specified. Jeep Engineers certainly account for long protracted exposure to extreme environments (incl dust) the key is not a different filter. It is frequency of replacement.
Want to add a layer of f protection "if" warranty isn't a concern - add a pre-filter paper to the OE filter and enjoy the ride.

A dry filter is better at filtering than a filter you apply oil to. [Hide] Just look at used oil analysis of an engine using an OE filter vs. a K&N and you'll see what I mean. An OE filter is a good place to start. Donaldson makes a good filter as well.

In a dusty region I would only use a dry filter. The extra couple of HP a K&N type filter offers is not worth the additional engine wear. Opinions vary.

IMO stick with the OEM air filter rather than any of the parts store brands. There is a difference in media quality, density, fit/finish and overall construction. Pre filter protection makes sense if your expecting jeeping activity in high dusty areas. Some jeepers like the pre filtering + cool air capabilities in a snorkel kit even if your not truly snorkeling
