Dual top question ! Newbie here !!

Hey guy and girls

I'm new to the forum, and new to jeeps. I just bought a 2012 rubicon call of duty with the dual tops. I've read in the manual that you can only have one top in the jeep , either the hard top, or the soft top. Is it not possible to have the soft top folded down while the hard top is on? What do you guys do ??

Thanks

Welcome to the forum,,,,, u r correct when u say u can only have one top on at a time.....u will have to take the hardtop off to get the softtop out of the jeep then either reinstall the hardtop or softtop and store the other top.

They only install the soft top for transport. You should remove the soft top ASAP to avoid damage to both the soft and hard top.

Your lucky to have bought the Jeep in Spring. Just remove the hardtop and store it. You can start using the soft top that is already install. You'll just need to install the door surrounds that came in a separate box along with the windows.

You can but as per Jeep's instructions you will end up damaging it.

Also, by having the soft top on, it's really hard to get access to the cargo area to put large items.

All in all, it's better to take it off.

It's not that hard to take off. Two man job.

1. You can disconnect the bolts that hold the soft top.
2. Disconnect all the mountings for the hard top
3. One person stand inside the jeep and push the hard top up with your upper back. Just hinge it up. You don't have to lift the whole thing off the jeep.
4. Second person can remove the rolled up soft top

That's how I did it.

The dual top option is poorly named. It could suggest that both are installed. It simply means that you bought both tops to be used independently of each other.

As a side note make sure you did get the separate box Matador is referring to. Seems a lot of dealers are selling these and not giving the owner the box.

Hell mine was missing the antenna and floor mats when i picked it up.

You should have gotten two boxes. One with hardware and one with the soft windows.
