This is the understatement of the century. The only reason they don't win the worst company CS every year is they don't have the customer base the bigger companies do.
They are so incompetent words don't cover it. My fingertips would wear off if I typed all the bullshit I've gone through with them.
Unfortunately my garbage Sirius is for a whole freaking year. Another 11 months of that SH'ite on my radio. I usually listen to stuff on my phone through the USB, or when travelling with the ankle biters, whatever cartoons they're watching on their DVD players...
I don't plan on keeping mine when it expires end of July. I finally went out and tried the Bluetooth option with my iPhone just to see how it works. Not a bad option when on the road and outside of local talk radio reception.
I guess my ears aren't as discerning as most, because I don't have any problem with the sound quality on my Sirius. Lithium (90s grunge and alternative rock, i.e. the soundtrack to my high school and undergraduate days) is worth the monthly subscription by itself.
I don't understand why everyone is complaining.. you get a free trial and literally don't have to listen to it if you don't want to. I personally love it, although just like regular radio, some stations have their regular rotation of songs they like to play. But don't act like you're forced to listen to it when you have regular FM/AM, AUX/BT/UCI, or CDs as other options. There are stations that play music that I wouldn't hear anywhere else and don't censor songs, I'll take it over regular radio until my free trial ends
I like my XM. I listen only to three stations, maybe four. Price is cheap, and it's easier than downloading music, carrying CD's, etc. I don't have an MP3 player, and it would just be another thing to hook up. XM is the easiest for me. Besides, my left ear is only around 30% and my right ear just a little bit better.
But IMHO, nothing beats PANDORA ONE. Too bad it's not in the Jeep.
Ignored the months of phone calls, but now they are sending spam to my house. I told them during the first phone call that it sounded like shit, and I wouldn't pay $1/mo for it. This on top of the fact that it's never playing anything I want to hear. I listen to rock/metal, and every time I checked out any stations, I had to endure "Fly To The Angels" by Slaughter within three songs.
Wonder if sound quality could be based on your location. I think some of it is as good or better then my local radio stations. I like it but won't pay for it, atleast not at their advertised price of around $200 plus a year that is on my brochure that came with the jeep. That is plum crazy unless you happen to be a traveling salesman or something.
I think it's great. When you go driving out in Jackrabbit country it's awesome! Mine sounds fine and I see no difference between FM AM or the satellite. I like to listen to CNN when I'm out in the sticks.
My 1 yr trial ends next week. I only listened to a few stations and I am way my satisfied with my hard disc and the few hundred of my favorite albums on there. I have it on shuffle most of the time and it has way more variety than any Sirius channel.
I have heard the horror stories of their CS and operating principles and I will save myself the expense and irritation of dealing with that.
I upgraded my oem head unit to Pioneer 6200nex and added Sirius which comes w/ 3 months free trial. Gonna upgrade once the subscription is over since sound quality vastly improved. I called today to cancel my previous radio and they did not try to sell me anything else unlike before (I guess its because I told them that I no longer use that radio). The call was approximately 4 min.
Sound quality - I paid for XM for several years from 2006 until about 2010. Sound quality at that time (in VT) was very good. Minimal artifacts. Nice.
Now. listening here in OR the sound quality is terrible. I don't know if it is because they have changed or because they deliver higher quality to the population center (east of the Mississippi).
WARNING - when your paid contract ends with them you cannot "cancel" by just withholding your payment. They will continue to deliver service to you for a couple of months before pulling the plug, then they will bill you for the extra months of service that they provided beyond the end of the contract. I fought it tooth & nail and they would not back down. I had to pay to get out.
If you want out, be sure to actively cancel your agreement.
I keep mine at around $25 for 6 months. Everytime my 6 months is up I act like I'm going to cancel and they end up giving me the deal again. I have been at it for this month will be two years. Last time they gave me the package where you can have three devices logged in to the same account for $25, so my wife uses her phone in the bmw and Bluetooths it to her radio and listens. I normally have to end up talking to the reps supervisor but they always end doing it. Most recently I resigned for the same $25 until January.
My reception has been great with mine in the Charlotte,NC area and anywhere within 500 miles of my house I haven't had any issues. Their customer service could be better but I'm getting every channel and it's like $5 a month so I want complain. It paid for itself when I had the antenna x on my jeep and my local radio station reception was less than desirable. What a waste of money those stubby antennas are.

The 77kick10 speakers are pretty cheap, I got 4 of them for like $135 I think. Simple plug and play and make a night and day difference over the base audio in a 2015 or 2016.
The sub is insane, but substantially more expensive
Awesome! I'll have to check them out. I'm also looking into a sub but with all the other things I want to do to my Jeep, I can always wait haha. Did you install them all yourself?
I did the check thing and bought a 6 month $25-$30 deal once. That was a mistake. As N1as said, once you give them any money you have to call to cancel. You cannot just ignore them from that point forward... So if you plan on ignoring them after, you cannot. My experience sent me over the edge and now cannot stay out of XM threads. After 6 months is up they sent me a bill, it was for their outrageous 20/month and I ignored it thinking they would send me a better offer. After 30 days they sent my account to collections for the 20 for the month.
So if you don't want to deal with that you must call before your paid contract is up to either cancel, my recommendation!, or to negotiate a better deal. Life is to short as aldo says to deal with those tactics...
My experience with them has been that their customer service is lacking, but I always stay on them about giving me the $25 for 6 n
Month deal. Normally requires Mr speaking to a supervisor, bit normally not more than 10 minutes on the phone and I get what I want. Been doing it like that for two years on the jeep and for 5 yrs total on sirus. It did go up in the 5yrs though from $15 to $25.
I guess Im one of the two that like it... I live in an area where we only get 5 local radio stations (3 of which are purely country, 1 is "classic" rock - I don't think they understand what Classic really is - and the other is a crappy talk station) and I like the variety I get on Sirius. Its worth it to me to pay for it, and honestly, with 3 years of the service, I haven't had any problems with my card or the service. Sounds great in my 13 JK.
just to clarify, i do like Sirius in general, i think it sounds bad in the Jeep. Doesn't sound as bad in my Chrysler 300 with the 8.4N, or my wife's Honda Pilot
It sounds pretty good with the alpine system in my 15 2 door and sounds great with the Bose system in our Tahoe. I just got mine for $6.07 per month and you can give them your credit card and tell them this is good only for a one time use and not to keep on file. We have been doing it this way for years. I used to get Sirius or XM for about 4 dollars dollars a month until they added the artist fee in. We put it on the calendar for about two days before expiration and call to cancel and they will give us the same deal again.
Love my Sirius XM. I live in the mountains where there is hardly ANY broadcast to receive. I'm not off the grid, but I can see the edge of it from here! ;-)
