Electronic throttle control

I just purchased my first Jeep (a 2012 2 door Wrangler Sport) a week ago and was able to take it off road for the first time today. After climbing a steep hill in 4H the electronic throttle control started flashing and the Jeep started revving on its own. My first thought was the the Jeep went into limp mode so I got it back on the street put it in 2WD and went to the dealership. After a mile or so on the road the engine started to acting normal again. The dealership said everything was ok and the Jeep just wanted me to shift to 4L.

Does this sound right? I guess I'm just kind of paranoid about the vehicle right now. The tire sensors died after two days of me owning the Jeep and they all had to be replaced. Thanks in advance for the help.

I don't believe there's an "electronic throttle control" light.

Traction control? Yes. Throttle control? Nope.

That's what the manual said it was. It looked like a lighting bolt and would flash every few seconds. Every time it flashed the Jeep would accelerate a little on its own.

Check the connection behind the gas pedal.
Worth a look.
