Emblem removal / Side quarter panels

I have a 14 Sahara and I am looking to remove the Unlimted and Sahara emblems off the sides. They look to be a thick sticker. But I wanted to ask a few questions about tips on removing them before I tried to take them off. I am guessing a heat gun and plastic body/putty tool would do the trick. If there are other tips or trick, please let me know.

Thanks

No need for a putty knife....

If you rig is new, they'll come right off. All you have to do is gently work at a corner/edge with a thumbnail and when there's enough to grab, peel it off. I did mine the day I took delivery, and they came right off.

Otherwise you might need to heat them up slightly with a hair dryer to soften them up a tad, then do the same thing. Just don't go too crazy with the hair dryer or it can soften your paint. If it's too hot to touch, you went too far. Sometimes all it takes is to park in the sun for a bit.

It's double sided tape. You can use the heat gun if you want. Just don't be too close to it& don't stay in one spot.

I would use adhesive remover on it. Pour/spray it around where the tape is. Let it soak a few minutes & then use the plastic wedge to remove.

Forgot to say, goo-gone works good. But any adhesive remover should work.

I just parked mine in the sun and waited until it got really hot. Then just started a corner and peeled it off really slow. Then get some GoofOff adhesive remover and clean up any glue that is left. Then just wash it clean with water.

I used a heat gun about 6 months after I bought my 2013 Sahara. It left a bit of a residue so Goo Gone did the trick. I bought a new Sahara sticker in Light Gray and Black and applied that. I just didnt care for the brown and beige on my Billet and Black Jeep.

Go to a pep boys, autozone (?) and ask for a 3m detail wheel. It's $20 and will save you a lot of time and energy. You put it to a drill, tilt sideways, remove sticker, wash and was area. Then charge your friends $5.00 for removal of theirs

I don't know what they even bother putting them silly stickers on. Wish the still stamped "Jeep" into the body.

How about the Trail Rated badges, do they peel of easily, too?

The Arizona sun did the trick for me, they peeled off easy. Now I'm just waiting for my flag decals to come in the mail.

There's something really pleasant about the appearance of a vehicle without all that gaudy badging and stickers. I've fully planned to remove all that stuff upon taking delivery of a JKUR. I know what it is, that's all that matters. If anyone wants to ask, it's a conversation starter.

If you have some Zippo lighter fluid laying around, that'll save you a trip to get some Goo Gone. Lighter fluid is naptha, a pretty good solvent for removing the sticker adhesive, gum in carpets, stuff like that.

I agree, I replaced mine with a red 10a badge today. Contemplating removing the stickers. What do you think?

I also replaced front Jeep emblem with a black altitude one.

The Trail Rated badge, Oscar Mike badges, etc. are all attached with double stick tape.

Wait till the badges are warm then slide a piece of dental floss or fishing line behind it and saw through the double stick tape.

Looks good! I'm probably going to black out the jeep logo on the hood too.

I started removing the "wrangler" sticker by using a hair dryer, but worried about screwing up the paint, so ditched it & just continued peeling really slowly—worked like a charm. Patience is a virtue in this process. Oh, and the Jeep was parked inside my garage here in Florida, so it was already quite warm...

After the stickers were off you could still read "Wrangler" in gum residue. I was going to buy some goo-gone, but then noticed the label on the Turtle Wax Bug & Tar remover I already had said it worked for labels too—sprayed it on, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then wiped it off w/some diligent rubbing. Worked perfectly.

Emphasize "really slow"! Not being the most patient person, I did a couple of letters at a time, went inside & did something else, came back & did a couple more letters worth, etc.

+1 on that! As an aside, I'm wondering if I'll run into any Jeeper who might say something like "Why didn't you get a Rubicon?" or (more snarkily) "You're just a Rubicon wannabee with those Rubicon tire & wheel takeoffs!" Luckily I'll still have those "fake" locker & sway bar disconnect switches...

Not to start a flame war or anything, but -1 on that! I mean, really, it's a freakin' Rubicon—does it really need a "trail rated" badge?!? Especially when that badge appears on some rather LESS "trail rated" Jeeps, to put it kindly (I'm lookin' @ you, Jeep Patriot!)...

LoL! It's all good. I think it's cool because it's an actual emblem and not just a sticker and lest ye forget... The wrangler IS trail rated regardless of others wearing the badge.

It IS all good, GreenMachine13—that's what's so cool about the Wrangler: everybody gets to make it their own, either by adding stuff they like, keeping stuff they like, or deleting stuff they don't like!

For my old-school tastes, I'm going to remove ALL stickers & emblems (wrangler stickers, trail rated emblem, rubicon hood decals, jeep emblem on the front grill) and then add, on the rear lower corner under right tail light one of these two 1950s/1960s "4 wheel drive" logos (just like back in the day), & where the "wrangler" stickers used to be on the front 1/4 panels (fenders), this 1950s-1960s font "Jeep" logo. (Sadly, they'll all be stickers & not emblems!)

It's all good!

I like what Green Machine did, that's where I started, then added a few military style logos. I took the Trail Rated emblem off, too. I have military-style hood lettering on order and Army star door decals too. I've still got to replace that front hood logo in black. Attachment 1187289
