Engine miss in a 2010- is it a known issue?

2010 Rubicon 6spd, 7k miles, never an issue

In the past several hundred miles, it has developed a miss on the shift from 2 to 3. The engine is as seamless as a sewing machine through the rev range in any gear. When shifting from second to third (every time) I get a momentary(less than a half a second) miss and resultant loss of power and then it smooths out almost instantly. It sounds like passing air through your closed lips. This happens every time, as soon as I let the clutch out upon shifting into third, and does not happen in any other gear.

Thoughts? Hey at least it's consistent so I can show the dealer - just kind of wondering if anyone has ever encountered this condition

Ps the noise emanates from the tailpipe, and the engine sputters - may be a clue

If it's truly a miss your engine should be throwing a code.

I know about codes, I'm a diesel mechanic, but I appreciate the response

I'm looking to see if it's something known, so I can fix it locally instead of driving to the nearest jeep dealer and being wo my ride a few days that's all

Well then if you are a mechanic you know that a miss would throw a code. It must be something else and no, it's not a known issue.

Ok we are on different wavelengths here - I mentioned working on diesels as way to let anyone reading know I'm not a newbie that's all - as for it not being a known issue as far as you know, cool. I'm just scratching my head trying to figure out why it only misses shifting from 2-3 and no other time in any shift or other rpm ... It's consistent.

Well off to the dealer Monday - I should probably steam clean the paint from that Volvo off my transfer case

My 2002 would only take super unleaded. Anything else and it would ping like crazy. Still lasted 175k miles. Might be a fuel thing?

Yea it's a definite miss ... And not fuel related as I have been through tanks, and it only happens on that one shift

Haven't heard about this on the forums. Have a 10 Rubi 6spd., a little over 4,000 with no issues. Although you said it just recently started at around 7,000. It almost seems like there is an exhaust leak, taking in air on the shift point maybe, but I don't think that would cause a miss. I guess it's time for the dealer. Oh, and a plug for daggo who is always helpful. However, he can come across as a little bit of a Richard at times. Probably due to our NJ roots.

I was going to ask how you got volvo paint on your differential but then looked at your location and understood.

By the way, the closest I could come to your symptom was when I got my first jeep early 08 model, coming off of a stop, the engine would yawn then get into this funk where it would run but no power then stall. I attributed it to stupid foot on the clutch. Then Chrysler bought it back for other issues and the Rubicon did the same thing. Much smarter foot now and it rarely happens.

"flipped it?" You come on here asking a question and leave out that little piece of information?
