Engine ticking in 2013

My dad is looking at a 2013 jk sport, used with 16k miles. The engine has a tick and the dealer is saying its normal. We highly doubt this. Anybody else get a ticking noise? Maybe you might know what it is?

It's tough to say normal or not without actually hearing them for yourself. If it is something that you noticed then it probably isn't normal injector noise

Are you sure it's not just the injectors ticking?

This is the head tick...

Injectors tick a lot faster and "finer"

If it sounds like the head, walk away.

Mine has never ticked. Even after sitting a few days. But some report that theirs do. I think I would keep looking.

Check the date code on the drivers side head. If it is greater than "2062" (206th day of 2012) it doesn't have the problem head. Very early 13s did have some of the problem heads.

Yea there is really no mistaking a cylinder head tick. If your not saying damn that is loud as hell its just an injector tick. If you think the pentastar even with the tick is loud you should hear my air cooled kawasaki 750 turbo lol. Those cooling fins are like sound amplifiers lol

Is is an early 2013 that might have an AB head? I read about some very early 2013's needing a head replacement.

The injectors make a LOT of racket. A bad head will have a pronounced metallic tone.
