Enough is never enough

I know we all have different levels of Jeeps and we all add "mods" until we run out of money. Then we save up and start again.
My question is when will I be done? I guess when I'm dead or just broke. I think it is a addiction.
What about you?

The only cure for modding is poverty.

Applies to racing and buying guns too

What makes it worse for me is I said I liked my Jeep so much when I got it I wasn't going to change it at all.......I have now spent almost as much in mods (some done more than once) than I paid for the Jeep 9 years ago....nope not done yet...just not sure what is next.....

I bought a stock new Jeep in 2003 and spent 10 years moding it. Then my daughter wrecked and totaled it and I was done moding it. That was the end and the only end to moding your Jeep. The bad news is that I ordered a brand new one and will start over again so the disease can not be whiped out.

I stopped modding at 300 miles....lift, tires, wheels, lights, a few misc. cosmetics... Done.

I actually got sick of it....sifting thru all the bullshit--good reviews, bad reviews, back orders, etc... For me, it's a relief to be done.

Poverty won't stop it. I'll just start making highlift holders out of fencepost straps.

You know, I hate to say, but you're only 1 ride away from totalling it--always. Not being negative, but it only takes 1 asshole to do that... I have the $$ for more; it's just principle now... I've sunk $4k worth of mods into this thing (no labor costs)... If something were to happen now, I'd be ok with that number and willing to do it again...Throw it in the gutter and go buy another.

If I sunk 20k in mods and something happened though, I'd be sick.

If I sunk 20k into my jeep in mods, my wife would Want to kill me. Instead she would just be very cranky. I'm lucky that she is ok with mods as long as I don't go crazy and I pay Cash!!

I'm trying to save instead. I'd like to retire someday and I already have other expensive hobbies...road biking and mountain biking. It's tough though- I like to live for today.

Sadly I see a lot of people who dont do this. I have guys working for me who start out at 70k a year and live paycheck to paycheck. The future never even comes into there minds.

Did you know that your Ex catching her best friend in your jeep can cause a whole lot of shit to hit the fan? It really is funny you should try it.

That's fine to a point, but what if you/we are not here to spend your/our savings/retirement. Enjoy your life now, no one can count on being here later!

I used to save like crazy. Had an uncle who all ways told me you have to live for today every now and again, you never knew when it was your turn to go. Well he was killed at work climbing a power pole the week before he was going to move into the new house he and my aunt had built.

I still put up for the future, but I also dont have a problem anymore buying something I want if I can swing it.

I am counting on being here later. I have enough toys but I also wanted to have one year's worth of living expenses in hand. I recently did that. That habit is now making me much more careful when I do spend money. Granted, I did just drop $2,000 on toys this past month. Now's it's back to austerity for a while...till it's time for my lift and tires (OME, control arms, gusset, truss, and who knows what else).

I'm lucky in one way though...I don't do much for looks. I'm past that stage. I only get stuff I am sure I need.
