I just recently took my 2010 Unlimited to get the first gear and sync changed out, since I was one of the fortunate ones to get a tranny that liked to jump out of gear. Since then, my transmission seems to be emitting a lot of heat. It almost feels like the heater is on. Also, this evening the family was riding along, and it seemed to be noisier. Is there usually some type of insulation or something between the tranny and under carriage that maybe got removed and not replaced? Or, am I just being paranoid since this is my first jeep?
So, investigating this morning found nothing unusual underneath, but inside did find a double boot design feature. The one on the bottom wasn't reattached. Hope this fix's it.
Yup, that would be it. I had a GTO and changed the shifter out a couple times. There is a boot underneath the one you can see from the drivers seat, and it protects the inside of the vic from heat, elements, etc... It is a beeotch to get back in right (in some cases). Take it back to the dealership and have them fix it.
After a few days it seems to be fixed. And the second boot snapped back on with relative ease
