Exhaust!!

Have a 2009 jku with the 3.8

What's the best exhaust to get that puts out a good sound but not obnoxious?? Or should I just cut off the stock muffler lol Give me your personal opinions everyone!

Thanks!

I have a 2010 JKU Sport .... I'm not sure what you're going to come up with but I've searched high and low when it comes to reviews and opinions. I've decided on the Dynomax EVO Comp. Originally I wanted a dual exhaust for the looks but I was told the Dual Dynomax is a 3 in sound and the Comp is a 6-7. In March there should be a sale so I'm waiting to purchase it then ... Let me know what you come up with, maybe I'll change my mine
Here are some helpful links.

I've had the Rugged Ridge cat back stainless steel dual exhaust with Gibson slash cut tips on my 10 for 4 yrs. with no issues. There's good sound, just enough so you can tell it's running, and no drone at speed which seems to be a complaint with some systems with a 3.8.

I had a Flowmaster Super 50 put on mine. I really like the sound. No drone, not ricey. I'll try to get a video of mine at lunch.

What are you looking to change with a $75 mod? (i.e. performance, sound?) Why not just keep the stock one?

That's a bit of an exaggeration. I'd say closer to 25lbs.

Have a wheelin bud with a magna, we can hear him coming a ways off and always while on the trail. Dont think there is much that can be done with this v6 as every after market we've heard has been rice and have a drone.

So many to choose... Like most everyone here we have has spent tons of time researching. So that being said does anyone have any experience with a cat back system that drops out before the rear axil? I've had my eye on the manaflow off road pro series. I'm concerned with a short system like this that it will be louder (drone) than a system that goes all out the back?

I went the MBRP before axel and couldn't be happier. My objective was to get rid of that bulky eyesore under the rear bumper, which it did. Sound wasn't a priority but I have to say I'm really liking the way it sounds when I start her up (although I did wake the neighbors last Sunday at 6:30 am). Almost sounds like there's a real motor under the hood. Haven't heard any drone. Took the doors off today and still like the sound.

I've read about exhausts until I'm blue in the face. I like the Dynomax warranty talk. I have seen complaints about just about all the brands (and compliments).

The only complaints I recall hearing about Gibson dual exhausts are the cost and the 'skull' design on the Mulisha systems being a little odd. Sound and quality seem to be liked by about all. I haven't made a choice yet either.

I ordered the Gibson Metal Mulisha Dual both for looks and sound. The tips are removable to alleviate damage concerns when off road and discoloration requires a bit of attention (weekly cleaning with SS cleaner and a scotchbrite pad) but I'm ok with that.

If you don't like the MM logo on the tips Gibson has a plain black ceramic dual that sounds the same with smaller tips.

Found mine on Amazon for $405 (list is $549 most places).

No exhaust fumes. One thing I'll mention too is that you can literally feel the exhaust on the floor boards - it definitely grumbles. Personally, I like it. It got rid of the other creaks/squeaks the Jeep was making.

Well I pulled the trigger on the Dynomax 39523. I decided against the before axil dump. Will keep everyone posted.

That's the one I'm considering, the Gibson Performance Exhaust 17303-B BLK Split Rear Dual . Please share anything about your experience, the installation, the sound, drone?, gas mileage or other performance difference, anything . thanks

Andysvette, I have the 2 door version of the Dynomax 39523 (possibly 39524, coffee hasn't kicked in yet) exhaust. I'd describe it as moderately loud, sound peaks right around 3000 RPM, then quiets down. It drones down low, about 1200-1300 RPM.

Its very easy to keep it out of that range with a 6 speed, not sure about with an automatic. I'd be inclined to run a system that retains the resonator with an automatic, since they seem to like staying at low RPM.
