[QUOTE=fastNugly;3765713]Hows the sound on the freeway?
Any drone?
is it quite till you romp on it?

Sounds on freeway is okay? I did do undercarriage sound dampening and hot heads. That makes the ride pretty quiet.
There is a little drone but not as much as you would think. I will make a sound bit this weekend for ya.
The sound is normal and when you stomp on the gas it gets loud!

Guess i have a project for when I return on monday!!!

My Dynomax Rock Crawler is en route, and should be here tomorrow morning via FedEX. I'm hoping to have it on tomorrow night, but we'll see.

I have a banks monster on my 2 door. Sounded a little like a 350z before it broke in completely lol now it sounds great. Not loud at all but after 3k rpms it definitely lets you know its there. Its subdued yet still authoritative.

I could see that given the similiarities in engine specs. This is one of the systems I leaning towards. How does it sound at idle? How much louder than stock would you say it is?

At idle its not even noticeable, very quiet. And it really dosent start to bark till after 2800 rpms. After that it is louder; how much louder is a matter of opinion i guess lol. Id say its subdued but still very nice. Youll be happy with it. My only complaint was havig to cut a brand new exhaust up lol its an axle back and you have to cut it right at the apex of the bend above the rear axle. Ill take a pic of the finished product for you tomorrow.

I just ordered the banks myself can't wait to install it. I won't be home for another 2 weeks tho. While I also was hesitant about having to cut my stock exhaust, I really liked the idea of leaving the resonator in there (for drone reasons). Got the banks intake as well

Check at the AFE seriously. There are sound clips on Youtube. No drone, same sound characteristics, better clearance and there's absolutely no cutting.

I have a Gibson on mine (Quadatec Link Here) I Love it.. It sits nice, sounds great on idle and really opens up around 2,500 RPMs. There are some decent sound clips on youtube of this model. Here is the video that sold me... YouTube Link

I will say - It is slightly obnoxious on the highway in 6th gear with the doors off when it drops just under 2,000 RPMs. At that point, turn up the radio - its a jeep

Anybody ever try out Heartthrob exausts? I know my straight 6 will sound a bit different than the JK motors, but I was more curious about quality and ease of installation. I listened to their soundclips on various vehicles and I am liking the sound so far.

Any issues with the muffler being relocated (heat)?

what the AFE kit does is deletes the factory muffler completely. The stock resonator gets taken out as well but in its place goes the AFE muffler. this should help explain it.

I like the sound but it looks like they only make that setup for a 4 door.

Ended up ordering the Gibson muffler. I would have liked a cat back for potential gains but the lack of an idle on some and uncertainties around the fitment on others were deal breakers. Figured the Gibson is low risk, if I don't like it I'll just swap the stock back and return it, but it sounds great in the you tube vids. I'm not a fan of the large polished tips though. Does anyone know if it will cause problems to run it without the tips? Can it melt the bumper?

I wouldn't worry about it melting the bumper.

I know this is an older thread, but having a hard time deciding on this system vs the 49-46212 where it keeps the muffler in the stock location. How loud is this one when cruising on the highway at 70 mph? Drone a lot or no. Really appreciate any input.

Depends on what gear... 5th not so bad, 6th is pretty droned out - especially with a soft top or doors off. Have to keep it above 2,200 RPMs to avoid it
