Exhaust suggestions

Looking for some ideas on exhaust systems for my 2011 wrangler. Sport model with V6. Not a professional mechanic by any means but have no problem with some sunday afternoon, laying in the driveway type tinkering. Im being told a cat back system is just the thing i should look for to suite my needs. Its an everyday vehicle so im not looking for anything to rattle the windows. I want something that sounds good and wont cause me to take evrything apart to install. All ready done the tires, rims and a few cosmetics so know im looking for some better sound. can you guys give me some ideas? where to look? looked online at Gibson and Magna-Flo. When those say the exhaust will fit my year and model does that mean they will fit? easily? modifications?

Thanks

My Gibson muffler fit easily, not modifications. Mine was only muff though, not cat back.

Go to a muffler shop and have them build a system for you. I paid $170 for mine and I have a stainless steel Magnaflow with a 15" resonator installed midpipe. I went through two stages before with Flowmaster but hated the drone I got from it. The cost I paid included the stages.

flowmaster 50...great sound, not too loud. The flowmaster 40 is popular, but I didn't want something as loud.

I was looking at the flowmaster 50 also. I want to change out my stock rusty muffler that I painted silver. I believe muffler comes in black. On flowmaster website they show video of installation and what muffler sounds like. I may go that route this spring.

If you're gonna put a NEW muffler in the same spot as the stocker--the Flowmaster 50 is a great "mild" sounding muffler--it won't fit anywhere else--

The FM-40 is a GREAT action muffler, especially as a cat-back and it'll fit inside the frame, under the drivers side and get rid of the "space hogger" stock muffler !

Do exhausts do anything besides for sound??
Only reason i would concider it is for an extra kick on those uphills....

i have the flowmaster 40, with resonator delete.

suggestions: if you want something quite aggressive, go with the flowmaste 40, but DO NOT remove the resonator.

I'm putting my resonator back on becaust it's too loud right not for my taste, and the drone @ 2k rpm is annoying

I think you have your muffler in the stock position and isn't a cat-back, with a FM 40-

You're gonna need at least 6' of secondary exhaust pipe for sound/rap and NO DRONE-

So the guy at my local 4wheelparts was saying that Banks Monster exhaust are really good...anyone heard or know anything about them? They seem kind of pricey though, he said it was about $359

theres the site for one.

I'm also looking at getting some new exhaust. I was thinking Flowmaster 40 series, I've heard lots of them and they sound pretty good, would meet my needs just fine. Do I need just the muffler? Also, if I choose to have the resonator, does this throw check engine lights or anything?

Thanks!

Wot give u lights if you remove resonator but DO NOT remove it. Especially if u r installing ur muffler in the stock location. I have the FM 40 and resonator delete, the drone at 2k rpm is killing me. I'm either putting my resonator back on or relocating the muffler

So if i go with muffler shop and have them install and things go wrong down the road they fix the problem. They sell flo master and said installed would be around 500. Good or bad?

Horrible.
I got the entire dual exhaust system custom bent and installed on my 55 Chevy from the headers to the polished tips with Flowmaster 40's for $550 from a local shop.
Go to Meineke, tell them you want their chambered muffler (it looks and sounds exactly like a Flowmaster, only a lot less) and have them cut and replace your muffler. Catbacks don't amount to much on the new Jeeps, but if you insist, have them bend the rest as well. I'd bet on something in the $300 to $350 range. Less if one of the guys does it "on the side".

From the research I have done the results will be minimal but thats not saying I wouldn't do the same. If you are looking for power the cats may be an option as well.

I used the flowmaster super 44, like the sound. Have a 4 door and stuffed it in line right under the rear seat and just eliminated the stock one. Two clamps, muffler, heat shield and a couple tack welds and it was done for about 120. Not too loud but has a little rumble to it.
