Expedition One Front Bumper Review

Hey guys,

So this weekend Christmas came a bit early and i got my Expedition One Front bumper and installed it that day. Got it powder coated with the bull bar. Installation was about a couple hours and relatively painless, and i absolutely LOVE it. However, the instruction manual was near useless, so i thought i'd offer a little more detail on the install. (i was in a rush that day though so i never got the chance to take better pictures for the install.)

First, you have to start by drilling a a 1/2 hole into the inside frame of the bumper frame of the jeep, after you take off the stock bumper set of course. The hint they give you on wear to exactly drill is that the when you detach the foglight clamps from the frame, the innermost clamp hole is where you drill the hole.

Fitting the bumper into the frame is easy, i did it myself with the hidden "hand handles" located right under the bull bar where the winch goes. It takes a little maneuvering but you'll know when it sits right. also be sure to put masking tape on the edge of the fenders to prevent the bumper by scripting the fenders on accident.

Now heres comes the fun part. Mounting the brackets and putting the screws through the holes. this i was ables to do myself, but having a partner never hurts. my trick was to use a screwdriver to align the screw hole in the bumper to the hole in the bracket then carefully put the screw in with my hand o the bracket would stay. However, an issue i had is one of the screws didn't fit in the hole right, so i had to break out the drill and maneuver my way into the bumper crevice to drill the hole wider. and the instructions offered no insight on wear to place the brackets so i took a couple of OK pictures to give you guys an idea.

I also recommend you put in the fog lights before you put the bumper on. Make sure the lettering on the fog lights is on the bottom, and the bumper comes with the screws for it. extending the wiring harness was a breed, just simple splice and tape. took twenty minutes. overall very good install, and GREAT look!

Another note, as you can see from this picture, this is looking from the outside into the bumper where the foglight is placed. Those two screws are where the bracket is located is located on the other side. however, the screw on top will only fir through the hole and into the bracket if the bumper is raised a little bit. Since i was doing this myself, what i did was as i was on back laying on the ground, i raised my legs and pushed the bumper up with my shins so that why all the parts would align, and the bottom one was a breeze to put on afterwards.

Well my jk Is an 09 so i didn't have to relocate anything but in I think 11+ models you have to relocate the vacuum pump. But I found this guys blog where he had a beautiful step by step tutorial on how to relocate it, I'll put up the link later

That's one beefy bumper. I would not want to be on the receiving end if you hit something

It is VERY sturdy

A reason why i got it was someone dented my stock bumper when it was parked and i wasn't around. Maybe now who parks in front of me will think twice before hitting my jeep and ditching

Nice install write-up. I had the same problem with one hole not lining up on the passenger side and had to drill it out slightly before I could get the bolt in.

Do you plan on cutting off the bar below the bumper and installing Expedition One's Rubi Skid? I did and it looks much better with more protection for my electronic swaybar disconnect motor and better approach angle.

It weighs close to 100, 105 pounds. I did not notice any sagging in the front.

That was my issue too, the left bottom screw on the passenger side of the bumper, maybe i should send an email telling them this is a recurring problem so they can fix it. How much is that rubi skid?
