Hey guys,

We're in Florida and looking at getting a 2017 JK 2-door. Which is a better option, the factory premium soft top for $500 or something from the aftermarket? In case the windows are slashed, I'd like to have readily available, affordable replacement windows available if possible.

Thanks!

Go for the Factory Deluxe Soft Top for the $500 upgrade from the factory. As far as worrying if your windows will get slashed, that why you buy insurance on your vehicle. Insurance will replace damaged windows with new Jeep parts. Don't keep valuables in site where thieves can see them, this is the best theft deterrent. If you live in a high crime area, maybe a soft top is not your best choice for a top.

+1 for the premium factory top

you can literally unzip the side windows to get in, no need to slash them unless the crook is stupid. that being said, I leave my JKU unlocked at all times and don't keep anything valuable inside. Only stuff I keep in it are some cheap-ish tools and my recover gear - all of which are in bags cable locked to my roll cage.

don't buy a soft top if you want a secure vehicle.

I have a 2016 and ordered it/w the premium soft top.

I love it! I I didn't want a hard top as I knew if never take it off. I can take my soft top down in about 7-8 minutes and put it back up under 15 (little tricky on getting the rear window started).

And I did have an a$$ took a knife to one of the side windows. I ordered a replacement on line, had it it in just a couple days.

Since you are in Florida, you might check the price on the version w/factory tinted soft Windows. You can't tint them yourself. And to buy the 3 factory tinted windows is like $500 alone.

But super glad I got the premium.
