factory sub

Just replaced the factory sub in my 2008 jk with a kicker 8 inch 2 ohm sub it went in fairly easy just had to redrill holes for mounting a little off from factory sub. Also ordered the factory plug adapters so it was pretty much plug and play. I'm not going to win a car stereo show but it sounds alot better than the paper cone factory sub.

Nice, what's the part # for that? I'd like to do the same but can't find a kicker 8" sub.

Two questions:

1. Could rate the improvement on a scale of 1 to 10? Like, if the factory was a "2" and the Kicker is a "7"?
2. How long had you been using the factory sub? I noticed that mine didn't really break in for about 4-5 months. Sounds a little better now than it did in the beginning.

I'm using the factory amp. The plug adapter for the wires came from Crutchfield for 7.99.free shipping. Just had to strip the wires on the speaker end.

For comparison I would say the factory sub was a 2 out of 10 and the kicker is a 6 out of 10 . With out going through all the hassle of adding after market amps and the cost it was worth it to me. I'm also noticed there's no sound proofing of the enclosure might try lining it with dynamat.

Haven't done any other speakers yet. The factory front sounds pretty good to me the sound bar could use some work. Looking at the mopar kicker up grade but have to do more homework on it first

Nice. I know there are a few threads I have been reading on the Kicker upgrade but I haven't read about the sub until I came across yours. Its a big forum. Im sure there is more out there lol

Most people are recommending these for the soundbar and front dash. They are supposed to be Plug and play and like your sub people have said they make a huge difference. Now I got a sub to add to my list of two sets of these lol

Got my sub yesterday... I see the factory needs to plugs into it.. Got the Metra adapters. Do you wire the two white and two blacks together and put them to the sub connectors? Also sub I got seems to be a 1Ohm and 4 Ohm switch, I thought it was going to be a 2ohm... The 1Ohm seems to hit harder... I also need a sub spacer ring for a better fit that's on order now.

You can really bring the front to life by doing the Stock Tweeter Mod.

Also, don't forget to polyfil the sub enclosure while you are in there.
