Feedback Please: '09 Rubicon

Hello all,

New here and looking to buy my first Wrangler. Hoping to get feedback on a 2009 Rubicon with manual transmission with 10k miles. Has the basic configuration with power windows and GPS, no wench, lift, etc. Carfax looks clean. I like the idea of manual tran, but there are times this might be the only thing I would change.

Got dealer down to $24k +ttl. Which seems like a good price around here.

Any issues I should look for or things I should be cautious of on this model?

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

The only problems I have heard about on the manual transmissions is the "popping out of gear" problem. Not sure if is limited to certain models or not but the Rubicon is a very capable Jeep bone stock.
I have an 07 (X model) with the auto trans, and I really like it a lot. Good luck!

Have a 10 Rubi and it's been great. Has a manual trans. which I like on Jeeps, but it's a personal preference. I don't think you can go wrong with a manual trans. You might want a professional tech. on your own to look at it. Knowing something about insurance claims I know that a Carfax doesn't mean that a vehicle has never been crunched. Have someone look at it that is experienced with auto body. Why is it available after only 10,000 miles? Ask the dealer and see what they say. If it checks out then you probably have a good deal on a great Jeep. What type of warranty are they offering. And, is the dealer Chrysler or do they have mixed makes and models. If it's a general used car dealer than they may have picked it up at auction which means you're not going to know the history. It may have been wrecked. Be careful and informed before you buy. Please do not just depend on a Carfax report. I know some individuals that got burned thinking they bought a pristine car and it wasn't. Have your own professional tech. check it.

Hello and welcome.
I have an 09 Rubicon auto and absolutely pleased with every aspect of it. You've gotten some good advice already. When you are looking at warranty, remember that the life time drivetrain warranty on the 09's is not transferable to the second owner.

If everything checks out as already mentioned, you'll have a great ride.
Best of luck,
Jim

I would make them throw in the wench, at least for a night.

X2 on the wench, you'll never know when one will come in handy. Or a pair of wenches! Just think....you could have one front and back

To the OP, your dilemma will always be the comparison to a similarly equipped new jeep. Then you have to decide if the extra cost is worth the extra dollars for the new jeep. With only 10K on it, the original warranty will still apply for some distance on the OD. The automatic transmission is an added expense from the base price. I favor the standard in a jeep. I feel that, for me, it makes the jeep more versatile. Transmission is a personal choice and it depends on what you see for yourself in a jeep.

Yup, it sucks because before when you bought a preowned Jeep you got the remainder of the 70k(i think that's right) powertrain warranty. Now, you get nothing. Hey chrysler...

As for the tranny.... Automatic all the way!!!

Obviously many feel the way you do and that's why they no longer offer the LTW. I'm glad I have it on both my '09 Wrangler and '08 Liberty.
