fender flares and hood latches

The hood latches on the JK's look like they were made by Tonka. They offend me, and therefore must be replaced.

I'm looking at a pair of Kentrol black aluminum hood hold downs, but don't know if they'll fit with Bushwacker flat style fender flares. I know that the Drake hood latches will not.

So I e-mailed Kentrol, and they dropped this on me:

"I do not know what the flares look like, but I believe that the hood latches will work.
This is basically the only thing holding the hood down.
I am sure bushwacker has taken this in consideration."

Only thing holding the hood down? Ye gods, say it ain't so! And I doubt Bushwacker paid much attention to any hood latches other than stock when they designed their fender flares.

So I throw it out to you, wranglerforum peeps: Anybody running this combo?

Bushwackers are notched to account for the factory latches, I don't know how different they are from the aftermarket latches tho'.
