I ordered the JKU and to get half doors I ordered the sport.
That means I have the basest of base wheels.
I love the 5-spoke, but won't have them.
My jeep hasn't arrived, but I have 6 bottles of plasti dip waiting.

I can only hope that my wheels look half as nice as yours do.

VN!

just be very patient. I used one can for each wheel. about 4 players for each. reapply only when the existing layer is dry (or almost dry)

all 5 wheels took about 3 hours (including taking them off, putting them back on, spray, waiting etc)

how difficult is it to remove plasti dip from the applied area. Once you apply it to the rims or grill? will it damage the paint? what is the procedure for removal?

Haven't had a car wash yet but I heard they are quite durable. And if they do scratch or peel, jus spray over it

It was pretty easy to remove plasti dip. Jus carefully slit open a cut, and peel everything off from there. Shouldn't damage the paint

.......HOW MANY HOURS???? You know, some how, since I've retired, it just seems to take longer to do some things .....like now..........I honestly figured it would be a 10 to 12 hour process??????? (at least I hoped it would)

Home Depot $5 here.
Wheels off Jeep
Clean
Clean
Clean with Alcohol
Spray even coats The first coat will look speckled. The second and third will look like enough, but it's not. You need a good 4-5 coats minimum. I use about 1 can per coat on all 4 wheels, or 1 can per wheel.

Wheels on Jeep, tape off the rotors and/or brakes; don't worry about the tires as you see it peels off.

If you are going to tape off any stripes, peel the tape off in between the layers of spray, let it dry, then tape and spray again, repeat as many times necessary.

So, it might be obvious to say, but my plan is - start with the spare, plasti-dip, then swap onto the car, and do them one at a time like that until they're all done, and end up back with a new spare. No?

I did mine today without taking them of the Jeep. I just taped the the rotors and lug nuts well. I was going to tape the tire but nothing sticks to it. I'm not sure there is a big differance in removing the wheels if you take your time.

I just left mine on too. I was too impatient to to take them off. Just stuck some paper in behind to cover the brakes. After you think they look good... 4 coats later...remember to back the Jeep up about 3 feet so you can see if you missed any spots because of the angle. I had a few areas that needed another coat or two on the inside of the spokes that I didn't quite get from the above angle.
When I did the spare, I took it off. Oh my God, it was so much easier to spray it off the Jeep. If I had to do it again, I'd remove the wheels form the Jeep first. No runs, no masking lugs... etc. etc.

Here's mine.. It looks great on White Jeeps too!!!
