So I finally did it, and now the ultimate question... Pop it out? Armor it (Rugged Ridge/Warrior)? Or wear it as a badge of honor that I use my Jeep properly?
Badge of honor! Mine is a reminder for me to think before I act. I have seen youtube videos of people rolling Jeeps and possibly hurting people because they aren't using their brains...
I R e a l l y don't get this badge of honor crap. PDR 20 minutes and it's like it never happened and then be careful next time.
Anything else is a rediculous exercise in forum masturbation. Whatever.
Nice Jeep, honest mistake and then avoid the obvious solution that is readily available? Yep that makes perfect sense.
Finally did it? Is this something you were shooting for? Badge of honor? More like a badge of stupidity, especially since you were aware of the possibility.

No kidding! Apparently some people have never made a simple mistake. And this one apparently so common there's a product out there to prevent against it.
That being said, I'm gonna PDR it so I feel better, and then cowl armor it so it doesn't happen again.
As for my "contribution" - I believe I said the above. Why anyone (not necessarily you) would accidentally damage their Jeep and then avoid a readily available complete and total solution that negates the damage completely and opt to retain and refer to the damage as a "badge of Honor" is beyond any reasonable explanation.
- My Wife melted the siding on the house once with the grill
- I spilled spaghetti sauce on the carpet once
- I cut my dog trimming his hair
- My kids threw a baseball through the basement window...
ALL mistakes, Keep them and name them (?) I don't think so.
I didn't become a mental deficient when I bought my Jeep (I don't think so at least, maybe)
Anyway.

I just PDR'd it myself. Easiest dent to get to of any car I've ever owned. I have a set of bodywork spoons I bought decades ago, but I'm not sure you couldn't get at this one with just a soup spoon.
BTW, I didn't accidentally forget and let my door go; I hung a towel on the cowl, took the strap off, carefully swung the door around till it was gently resting on the towel while I did something that required the door be wide open. Then I swung it back, hooked up the strap, removed the towel... and stared in amazement at the freaking dent in the cowl! I swear that thing is made out of Saran Wrap.
See ... that was what I did wrong. I bought BodyWork Forks! Doh!
Poked holes in everything
I got lucky then, I had to have my door open last night so I took a partially deflated balloon I had in the garage and carefully let the door rest. I did kind of hold my breath when I went to put it back thinking "Jeez I hope this wasn't just another bad idea". Lucky the balloon worked.
I was installing the dead pedal.
I know this is an old thread and acronyms can mean different things to different people, but PDR is a new one to me. Could someone enlighten the uneducated?

I do believe this thread has convinced me to get some armor. I think it looks cool anyway, and I'm equally convinced it's just a matter of time before I cause the 'dimple of shame'.
FWIW, I don't feel it is always a "dimple of shame." The wind was so strong it ripped the nylon on my hold-back. Just happened today. That being said, I am gonna try to pop it out and then cowl cover it. Damn.
Most dings in my car, which I own free and clear, are still present (I keep hoping some nitwit will nail that spot and I can use their insurance to replace the panel) but some day I guess I'll see to them (probably when I'm getting ready to sell it.)
On a Jeep I might just leave it, if it happened on the trail (that'll buff right out) but if it happened due to my carelessness or in a parking lot I'd probably get it fixed up (cuz I'd know and wouldn't feel right comparing scars around a campfire .. "and this was when a landshark bit it...")
A simple dimple is no shame; a bump, a stump, a thump--a whole clump of dings and dents and scratches and scrapes. It's a Jeep for pity's sake?!!!!? For pity's sake, you just started your right and honorable collection....!
PDR IT!!! "Paintless Dent Removal" is the way to go! First, when the JEEP is ready to be traded (IF EVER!!!) it will cost you then, and most unscrupulous dealers will tell you that the body shop repair will be $500 bucks to fix it. There is no such thing as a "Badge of Honor" on a vehicle of any kind. If you made a mistake, fess up to it and have it fixed. The guy who does our PDR is great. Sorry he is here in the wonderful state of MAINE. 20 minutes and about 50 to a hundred bucks, and nobody will know!
