Finally Got my Unlimited Sahara

Picked her up on Saturday afternoon, after many delays...(I had totalled my old BMW in December and my insurance company took until 5/06/08 to pay it off and I could not get approved for a new lease until I had proof that the BMW was paid off)

2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara
Black w/grey interior
Dual-Top
MyGiG
Tow Package
Remote Start
Side Airbags
Auto Trans
I will post pics later when I get home tonight...I absolutly love my Jeep...In deciding which vehicle to get I wanted something bigger, safer, lower payment, but still super fun..with a baby on the way and carrying 2 mortgages $650 a month on a BMW that sucked in the snow, and was only a coupe did not make sense. (I had a 2007 335i Coupe)

As soon as I got it I took the front pieces out of the freedom top and spent the day cruising around with my wife and friends. Very smooth ride (surprising), MyGiG is great, stereo sounds very tight clear and crisp and I really like the layout of the MyGig.

Sat. Night I took the hardtop off with a friend (def easier than I thought) installed the soft top brackets etc. which was a bit of a pain in the ass (just cuz we couldn't find the instructions and did not really know what to do) we didn't even know there were brackets until I opened the box's and looked I thought the box's were just windows lol..

Left the top down all weekend and finally put it up last night. Prior to raising the top I went on the Jeep site and watched the video tutorials which made it alot easier. I put the top up by myself and it really was not that bad took about 45 minutes (should have been 15 but in the beggining I got confused with a few minor things).

I am going to order the MyGig Lockpick with U-connect Microphone and back-up camera tonight. I am a financial advisor and sometimes I spend all day in the car traveling to meet with clients so the u-connect is important for me...and the backup cam is just because my wife has a tendency of backing into things...since her Grand Cherokee has the cam and she hasn't hit anything, I figure it is a good idea for both of us.

Overall I am very happy with it, and can't wait to get it off the road this weekend and onto some trails...

The only thing that is driving me nuts is (I am extremely meticulous with cleaning my cars) I detailed it yesterday (I asked the dealer not to wax or prep because I was worried about swirl marks from the dealers detailer) and the water that comes out from the round part of the mirrors where the mirror attches to the door is really rediculous...I had an aircompressor trying to blow it out for like an hour and it kept coming back after I washed the Jeep for like 3 hours even after driving it. I know that Jeeps are known for this because I have always seen jeeps with that water line that extends down under the mirror (on the door) all the way down through each hinge in almost a straight line....But I always assumed that most people go to the car wash and it is not dried properly...

Is there any way to fix the water problem...I was thinking removing the mirror and using some type of epoxy to seal it to the body. Any solution to this?

Regardless all cars have there quirks...but I absolutly love my Wrangler..to those who have spent the time reading my ramblings that you for listening and I look forward to learning, sharing experiences and making new friends along the way.

-Lou

Poor guy will probably never come back to the forum.

Anyway it's not like it's a pic of a TJ or CJ.
Then again the headlights are still ROUND.

Take off the mirror and cut yourself a gasket from a you-cut-it gasket kit.
Buy ONE OF THESE for drying your cars.

Other than that, congrats on the new rig. Don't look for detailing sympathy on a Jeep forum though; most of us scratch our rigs up and pressure wash them...

Actually I wash and detail mine after every run, I just wash the scratches and dents too. There is nothing wrong about taking care of your stuff.

no really concerned about the water spots...don't care how dirty it gets when off road...or how much mud is caked on it....but if I spend time washing it, I shouldn't have to deal with lines down my doors.

Anyway...solution found...and cutting the gasket is not it...drilled tiny weep holes works perfect and you would never know unless you look for it.
