I decided to get back into a Jeep 4 door JKU. Definitely want a black automatic. I thought about buying a new one but said what the heck let me check out whats out there. I set a budget of 25k for a 2012-2013 JKU base since a new one is 29,800 OTD at most dealerships.

Jeep 1:
2012 29k miles $25000. I look at the jeep it has all fenders sun faded, huge scratch on the hood, dirty inside. Owner calls me the next day and says I thought about it and I'm going to keep the car, I like it to much. Great, wasted an hr driving to see it.

2012 23k miles $25000. Someone backed into it with a hitch, car accident on the carfax. Will not budge on price.

Now I can understand why everyone is ordering new, I may just join the rest. The used market is ridiculous on Jeeps. :beerme:

I'm going through the same thing right now. I can't tell you how many used ones I've come across priced MORE than a new one. It makes no sense and the sellers won't budge. The kicker here is no sales tax when buying private party, so I'm still on the hunt for a reasonable seller of a slightly used heep.

Keep looking sellers are out there even in a sunny place like So FL. The challenge is that many times owners that are in a bind and just want to get rid of a Jeep or any vehicle for that matter will trade it in so you never have a chance to buy it. There are also outfits scanning the classifieds for good deals so they can resell them. Some of them connect buyers and vehicles for a fee.

Found this while searching. I am going to buy a 2015 sport. Here in california people want 10-12k for a 98-05 wrangler with a stick shift and salvage title. There are ZERO deals. Closest I found for a used wrangler was a 07 stick shift for 25,000$ I can a new base model for 23,500$.

Just does not make sense to me how people think the jeep does not depreciate in 8 years lol. Oh well, the new jeeps have really really peppy motors (3.6l) after test driving them and remembering my old 4.0L automatic xj, and trying the 3.8L you will be sold on the 3.6L. Infinitely better in every way.
