Firestick II as my offroading whip

I purchased a teraflex mount and 4' firestick II but there is no nut to secure the antenna. I will be adding a CB Radio in a few months but for now I just want my antenna mounted. Any suggestions?

You need a 3/8" stud.
Radio Shack or a Truck stop will have them.

Do you want one that is permanently installed or a portable one that can be removed?

Personally I'd add a Firestik SS-3H Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Antenna Spring. So you don't break off your antenna considering how high it sticks out over your roof. This is a stiff spring so NO road whip but it will flex off road.
Another consideration would be a Firestik K-1A quick disconnect....why advertise your CB, to thieves, if you only use it off-road? The ability to take your antenna off when not needed is a nice option.

CB - Uniden PRO520XL. $45 on amazon.
Simple and easy to set up.

Amazon.com: Midland 75-822 40 Channel CB-Way Radio: Electronics

Thats what I have with my mounted antenna. The people I've off roaded with say my voice is clear.

The quick disconnect is great so you don't have to leave the antenna on at all times. I used the spring on one trip and immediately removed it, way to much movement with it. The antenna has a decent amount of flex already, the spring just made it ridiculous.

I just installed this exact setup, same CB mount, Firestick II and the Cobra 75. Install the transmitter piece under the glove box. Zip tie to the structure, you will see it when you remove the glove box.

I love this setup.

Agree with AverageJK. Springs are too much movement. Fire stick 3' is plenty. Much over that you're snagging every low hanging branch and parking garage beam.
3' fire stick and Uniden pro505XL has performed beyond what I expected for under $100. Just be sure to tune the antenna once you have your radio installed.

There are different levels of spring tension. The one I suggested is a Very stiff spring. It doesn't whip around unless something makes contact with the antenna and it stops the whip very quickly. I would not run without it... Everyone has an opinion on what is best, this is mine.

I've wheeled with a couple guys that had those.
Biggest complaint was trying to listen and drive at the same time, since the speaker is in the handset.

I just installed the spring and quick disconnect I have yet to drive the jeep but I already could tell the amount of flex I'll get from it.

Yikes even with the heavy duty steel spring it flexes way too much!! Yup it's coming off. The antenna itself flexes just fine SMH
