first gear problems

I have an 07 X 6spd and it will from time to time slip out of first gear. I'm not a mechanic so was wondering if anyone could tell me what this is and how much it might cost to fix.

Common. Sorry to say it.

My 07 6 speed never popped out of any gear.

Slow down your shifts. Make sure you are fully engaged before letting off the clutch.

Like kjeeper said, it happens a lot. There are 515 posts in the thread below. Might be some decent advice in there, but I think most have had to go through the dealer for any kind of fix.

6 speed popping out of 1st gear.

I had the same problem with my 06 Liberty and I traded it in. I highly doubt it'll fix your issue but try making sure your foot isn't resting on the clutch at all.

Have the same issue with 2009 Sahara. I found the only thing that works other than a new transmission is to double clutch when I come to a stop. I downshift through the gears and when I get to a slow creep, I downshift into first, release the clutch just a bit to get the transmission to engage, then push the clutch back in. I dont have any problems if I do this routine.

mine does this only when really cold, i have a feeling its the rubber boot. let your jeep warm up a bit and see if that helps.

Or you can change the boot out.
