I owned about 20 different cars and trucks since I got my license, but the truck I traded for my Jeep was a '02 Dodge Ram 1500 Quadcab.

First time Jeep owner and ignorant.

Have owned all kinds of vehicles both here and in the UK, Chevy truck, Nissans, Toyotas, Fords, MG's, plus presently have 8 motor cycles, but have wanted to buy a Jeep for long time. Last year bought '04 TJ, 38k miles, love it, but am ignorant of what to really expect. How noisy is the manual trans? This TJ has a noisy input shaft bearing, at least my experience of manual transmissions tells me it's a noisy input shaft bearing, I'd have put my shirt on it, but I've never owned a Jeep before. Noisy when idling, noisy goes away when you put your foot on the clutch. Dealer says thow out bearing (not covered by warranty). I think he's full of s*** so I stick my neck out and have him pull the trans. and look at the input bearing. "Fine" says he and puts it back before I can see it. He puts new clutch in and new throw out bearing and the noise is still there. He says "just gear noise". I think I got hosed. Just how noisy is the TJ trans?

I'm not going to list the 20+ vehicles I've owned in my 15 short years of driving, but this is what I traded for the Jeep:

I couldn't wait to get rid of it!

I feel your pain. My wife has an 08 Rav4 that I drove to work some nights because the gas mileage was better. Since I bought the Jeep, I haven't gone near the Rav!

2005 Dodge Neon SXT (yes, you may laugh at me now). Still have it, it's my daily driver. Why get rid of it an put useless miles on my Jeep?

Before it was a 2003 Neon SXT that the ex wife didn't like cause it didn't have a sunroof.

Before that was a 1996 Chevy Cavalier, 1997 Chevy Cavalier Z24, and a 1986 Plymouth Reliant K.

While I love almost everything about my Jeep, it can never replace my DD which is a 2008 Toyota Tundra TRD 4X4.

I'm on my 4th Jeep. My first was a 1980 CJ-5 Renegade. Before that I owned:

1989 GMC S-15 Jimmy 4x4

That was my first vehicle.

Bought the TJ when the 1999 Taurus engine shattered inside. With the 24V aluminum block, repair the engine was not option, only replace. Didn't want to keep dropped dimes into the Taurus, so we bought the TJ.

I had two Taurus' before I got my Jeep. Well had one car between the last Taurus and the Jeep (ashamed to say what it was lol) but I thought I loved those cars and both of them I put over 250K on. But when I got my Jeep, I realize what fun you could really have in a vehicle.

I have loved all my cars, so sad to see each of them go, but loved to get the new ones and none of them gave me the s**t eating grin the wrangler gave me when i took it for its first test drive.

I've had my jeep since I was 16 so it was my first vehicle... I have also had a
1998 chevy lumina
2004 gmc sierra
Currently my dd is a 2006 gmc sierra 1500hd with 6" lift and 35x12.50s plus more I am not going to go into.

Now I'm looking for a 2003-2007 5.9l cummins 2500 diesel instead of my gmc... need some more towing power!
