2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. My dad was so upset at what the Jeep dealer was gonna give on a trade in, he bought it for $8500. Kinda cool cuz A) I really kinda dug that vehicle and it's staying in the family, and B) Dad's putting a 351 Cleveland in it he's got "lying around".

Like RadMom I've had an awful lot of cars. The only one I had to buy tires for was the 86 golf. Looking forward to buying tires for the JK. I just don't know if I want 33's or 35's. I would hate to lose my 18.5 mpg I've been averaging!

Most of my previous rigs have been just old junk; cars & trucks alike.
My last ride was a 97 Tacoma. I miss it, but it was time to let her go.

Great thread.... really makes you think about what makes you enjoy cars (and "transportation" in general).... and this is what it comes down to: Anything that puts a smile on your face and holds true to "Life is good" works in my book!

Life is too short to waste any minute. They all count - every commute - every traffic jam - every roadtrip - every offroad trip.. you HAVE to enjoy it.

I think that's what sum up my wisdwom of owning cars and bikes.. .and god forbid that I have still experienced it all :-)

1976 Golf C
1980 Opel Kadett
1982 Golf
1990 Maxda 323F
1993 Maxda MX3
1996 Golf
1998 Golf Cabriolet
1994 Maserati Spyder
1995 Maserati 424
1996 Maserati Ghibli Sport Trofeo
2000 Maserati Barchetta Trofeo (I should have NEVER sold this car :-( )
1997 Lotus Elise Sport
1999 Alfa Romeo 156 V6
1999 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
2001 Lotus 340R (I should have NEVER sold this car :-( )
2004 Porsche Cayenne S

Currently in the garage:
1957 Porsche Speedster
1997 Lotus Elise Motorsport
2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo
2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon

2010 Beta 525 RS
2007 Harley Davidson Road King Classic
2008 Ducati 848

... and by the way... I think I'm the luckiest guy in the world as my wife "understands" and just rolls her eyes and tell me to make sure to sell things before I put new stuff in the garage.

All this being said - I love driving the Jeep..... it has as much soul as any other full-fledged thoroughbred and it has it in its own very unique way.... and I pick that every single day for my commute... and my son begs me to drive it when I take him anyhwhere.

Rubi wins so far...babies!n Teehee...I sure feel older than almost 44... But I don't think I waited a day more than necessary to get my drivers license in va!
Loving the jeep...didn't love the totally different hood line when I went to grab the mail from the box...nothing I ever owned had a fender flare stick out that far....or low and wide... Doh.

1.) 2000 Mazda 626 was my first car ,4 door, 5 speed v6 completely leather and automatic everything with a sun roof. loved that car but wrecked it
2.) second car was a 2003 Chevy Cavalier 5 speed 2 door, put probably 2 or 3 grand in it, dual custom exhaust 17" black MSW rims with red lip, custom interior all red and black, outside was completely red and black, de-badged everything tinted windows sound system etc.
cavalier only had 100,000 when i traded it in on the jeep, loved that car and still miss it..but when i miss it i just get the jeep covered in mud and it makes me happy again

I'm only 18, so the list imo is pretty long since it's about a year in the making.
Craigslist junkie

94 XJ
2005 Trailblazer
Totaled the blazer and sold for 2250
97 XJ
97 F150
01 Focus
01 Durango
87 Wrangler

So 7 cars in a year.
Honestly can say it's the best way to learn how to work on vehicles.
I didn't know anything about a vehicle, but each vehicle I get, I learn to take apart and put back together.

'86 Ford Escort Pony ($600, beat the crap out of it, worth every penny of fun)
'85 GMC S15 2x4 Standard Cab
'91 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Station Wagon (yeah baby!)

'01 Ford Focus ZX3 (light mods, chip, etc... currently for sale if anybody's interested)

Also currently have a '00 Impala and '98 Cavalier as the wife's / family car and the Cavalier as the 'emergency backup'...probably also going to sell.
