First Time Jeeper, First Post

After my entire life waiting, I bought my first Jeep on the 11th of this month. I used to watch MacGyver as a kid with my dad wanting a Jeep more than anything.

I wanted to buy one as soon as I graduated college (Missouri) in 2010, but I was unable to find a job since I had moved to Michigan. I eventually became an expat and went overseas to Kuwait to work for a contractor and saved up every cent I could with the sole purpose of coming back to the States and buying my first Jeep. I did exactly that. This being my first, I was hesitant about a Rubicon since I would probably not dive right into off-roading and I would have to drive around metro-Detroit most of the time. I had never even driven a Jeep before and had only ridden in my uncle's '73 CJ. With that being said, I got a 2012 JKU-Sahara and haven't looked back. I drove it off the lot and took it straight to my cabin on a small lake in northern Michigan. I got my first Jeep Wave from a JKU-Sport on the way Up North and I got a rush I had never felt before. I wanted to do cartwheels across I-75, but that would mean I'd have to get out of my Wrangler. Hell to the no. Every time I get a return wave, it definitely puts me into a brief state of euphoria.

Anyway, I got Black, because it's the only color I could ever consider. No mods yet, and I'm still debating what all I want to do with her, but I'm definitely getting mirrors mounted on the side so I can take off my doors.

If anybody in metro-Detroit sees a young guy driving a black unlimited Sahara that looks like a 6 year old on Christmas morning times 100, that's probably me. Best. Toy. Ever.

So proud to be part of the Jeep family.

It's great to have you share your experience with us. It carries a huge responsibility having a Jeep; knowing when to wave even if you don't get one in return; knowing when to suck up to the spouse so you can add another mod to your baby (Jeep); knowing how to cut Birthday and Holiday expenses so you can save for trail money. It is an addiction that if not kept in check could get put of hand real fast. JEEP Just Empty Every Pocket.

Welcome and keep smiling.

Welcome to the site and the addiction! Great color btw! When I was looking for one, I was considering Black, Silver, and Green. As soon as I saw the black, it was over.
