After my entire life waiting, I bought my first Jeep on the 11th of this month. I used to watch MacGyver as a kid with my dad wanting a Jeep more than anything.
I wanted to buy one as soon as I graduated college (Missouri) in 2010, but I was unable to find a job since I had moved to Michigan. I eventually became an expat and went overseas to Kuwait to work for a contractor and saved up every cent I could with the sole purpose of coming back to the States and buying my first Jeep. I did exactly that. This being my first, I was hesitant about a Rubicon since I would probably not dive right into off-roading and I would have to drive around metro-Detroit most of the time. I had never even driven a Jeep before and had only ridden in my uncle's '73 CJ. With that being said, I got a 2012 JKU-Sahara and haven't looked back. I drove it off the lot and took it straight to my cabin on a small lake in northern Michigan. I got my first Jeep Wave from a JKU-Sport on the way Up North and I got a rush I had never felt before. I wanted to do cartwheels across I-75, but that would mean I'd have to get out of my Wrangler. Hell to the no. Every time I get a return wave, it definitely puts me into a brief state of euphoria.
Anyway, I got Black, because it's the only color I could ever consider. No mods yet, and I'm still debating what all I want to do with her, but I'm definitely getting mirrors mounted on the side so I can take off my doors.
If anybody in metro-Detroit sees a young guy driving a black unlimited Sahara that looks like a 6 year old on Christmas morning times 100, that's probably me. Best. Toy. Ever.
So proud to be part of the Jeep family.
