Fix Dash Scratch?

Holla!
Just got my '10 back from getting a new heater core, and I now have a couple scratches on the passenger side dash, on the rounded portion just above the grab handle. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks,

S

Plastic fille, but would probably be noticable. Just clean it up so theres no burrs or anything and leave it, you probably wont notice it after a few months unless its really bad. But it sucks that the dealer scratched things up doing a repair, could always replace the panels, or talk to the service people to do it.

From what I've seen, the dash is one piece right? Can they replace just the piece over the airbag?

They should be able to take off just that side. I know the driver side just pops off so it isn't one solid piece.

You might try black shoe polish. Or maybe even a crayon.

Or you might try handing the keys to the damned service manager and asking him to pay for the damage his technician caused!

I bought a tj with a bad scratch on dash.I used fine snd paper and steel wool to smooth it out.you can also use dash paint over it then if still visible.

I don't think I'm gonna be ok with it, so I called the dealer and I'm gonna bring it by tomorrow. Hopefully it's simple enough to just swap the panel over the air bag.

Dealer's gonna look into the parts necessary to fix dash scratches. Hopefully, it's easy and doesn't take too long.

My wife's 2007 has scratches in the same location. Think it was our grandson putting his feet up there. No chance he will fix it.

The above recommended solutions will not work. I have tried a variation of most of them. The cheap plastic just like on the door panels does not look good for long if you really use your Jeep.

Yup, a $30k Jeep that will get me back and forth to work and play for the next five years. And in that time, I'll keep it as damage free as possible. Especially when it's somebody else's damage.

I don't care if it's a Jeep or a Lexus. If someone negligently damages my vehicle then I will expect them to fix it. You may not care if someone else damages your Jeep but many Jeep owners do.

X2 I can put all the scratches on it I want when I'm on the trails but if someone else does...I'm not gonna be too happy about it.

If the scratches are not deep, but merely superficial, I used a product called Forever Black to dye the black plastic back on mine. I also used it on our 2012 Grand Cherokee with good success. It completely hid the scratches I had but again they were not deep gouges.

I like closure, so: picked up Jeep thought with brandy new air bag dash cover and passenger handle thingie--I guess they're separate pieces. In any case, everything looks great.

Thanks, all.

I know this is an old thread (sorry mods ) but if you get further scratches, depending on how big they are, you can use your thumbnail under a rag and rub them to remove the "feathers" of loose plastic.

After that... I used a lighter on the area in a brushing motion. Don't hold the lighter on the plastic too long but if you go back and forth while letting it gently cool. The plastic heals itself! Afterward, I applied 303 protectant, and its as good as new!
