Holy Sheep Sh*t. It looks like late 09s to 11 that were burners. I just can't believe that there has not been a cause found. I have an 07 and did not see any 07s listed in there but makes me nervous. I think I will step up getting that fire extinguisher installed.

Nah, they make the front bumpers outta super lightweight, fire-proof material so they won't burn when the rest of the Jeep does. But if you hit something with em, they'll fold up like origami.

Couple of them in the video was TJ's not JK. But if you look up about any model vehicle you will finds one on fire at some time. Fires happen, but haven't heard of it being common. Not that this makes those this happens too feel better but I think the company should step up to the plate and cover these unless they can prove it was caused by a badly wired mod. There a lot of Jeeps on the road. If you look, I'm sure you can compile a engine failure list or transmission problems.

Saying that you do want a tranny cooler on all 07-11 model Autos because they can get very hot.

I am wondering if these are all caused by a gas leak of some sort. Might not be a bad idea to do a once over occasionally under the hood.

Watched a 2011 Rubicon Unlimited last year at Penn's Woods Jamboree burn just like those...this was from a plastic gas pressured line that ruptured. They run right along the frame rail next to the exhaust manifold. No transmission problems, and only ran for most of the day in 4 low. No mods to it either. Only had a few thousand miles on it. As soon as the ignition was turned off, the fuel pump wasn't pumping fuel to feed the fire, but all the engine compartment was melted. Took 3 fire extinguishers to put it out.

I beginning to think it's more common than Chrysler would like to admit.

I wonder if there were changes made in this area on the 2012 models for the Pentastar?

First let me say I am sorry for anyone who lost their Jeep, it's a terrible tragedy regardless of the vehicle. Vehicle fires in general are not uncommon, do a search for ANY type of car fire and you will get a ton of videos. Now I'm wondering, did the fire start before or after he lost his brakes? if it was before could be a few things, if it was after, could it have something to do with the brake line recall? Personally I am no more concerned with my Jeep catching fire than my 15 year old Caravan with 200k on it. I do carry a fire extinguisher but only because it is in there for when I am wheeling, If I didn't wheel I probably wouldn't carry it.

Hopefully they will do the right thing, but they haven't yet on the death wobble thing either...so I wouldn't hold my breath. Some large atty firm will eventually file a class action and make a ton of money if fees...too bad I don't deal with class actions...

Damn that is crazy. I feel really bad for the guy and hope he has had a positive reply from chrysler. I also wonder if what is causing these issues has been solved with 2012s.

Sorry but I am calling BS. They are not that common especially for brand new vehicles.

I don't think Jk's are catching on fire unless off road and exhaust system is getting in high grass, but I did hear of trans line recall leak. It may get oil on manifold and catch fire?

I know that a lot of cars catch on fire. The issue is if there is a technical reason that they fail. The best you can do is just pull over and get out. A fire extinguisher is useful if someone drops a cigarette on the carpet, or an internal short, but forget putting out an engine compartment fire. These are high temperature, and as soon as you open the hood, it gives more oxygen to feed the flames.

Best move far away, call the fire department and hope the entire Jeep does not blow up like on TV. yes, I know it is unlikely, but it can happen!

Peace.
