Needless to say the tank was filled shortly. Never leave the lot without a full tank, never. Tell them the deal is off and your walking if this simple courtesy can't be performed.

Second, how much profit is the dealer making? You're telling me they cant give $50 of gas? Hell, just jack the price up $50 and claim they're giving you a deal.

Hell I bought a hyundai a couple years ago and they gave me 1/4 tank of gas. But I got the first oil change for free. Well, that's about the same value I suppose. The jeep dealer didn't give me a free oil change. But the jeep uses more gas.... so.. meh.

dealer special gas? any dealer i've ever been to has just taken it to a nearby gas station. On my hyundai the salesman just had me drive him up to the gas station and he put 1/4 tank in for me. Atleast i know where the gas came from.

When I bought the jeep, I watched the guy drive it across the street to Meijer and put gas in it.
Yep. I went to the 76 station with the salesman and filled her up.

When I purchased my jeep they gave me a $40 voucher. Considering what type of deal they gave me. I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Heck, I was on the way out and the sales man said I forgot to give you this gas voucher. I am completely happy with my deal.

I have bought three vehicles from local dealer over the last 11 years including 2013 JKUR. All were delivered with a full tank. I suspect it is just a dealer thing. The local dealer here always posts there dealer invoice pricing and still has a little room to negotiate.

Full tank when I bought mine. They shafted you; plain & simple.
I would go on Yelp, ripoff report, and other blogs, and let people know NOT to do business with these jerks!
They sure know how to piss off a customer!

As a construction project manager, looking at it from a pure business standpoint, I wouldn't let a $60 afterthought keep me out of a $30k deal if the rest of the contract was favorable...

I got a total of about $5500 off sticker between haggling and incentives on a 2dr Sport. I drove off the lot with an 1/8th tank and went and gladly filled my own tank. Sure, Chrysler may not reimburse them. Whatever. Do the math guys. 141,000 in just JK's sold last year, average $60 fill up. That $8 Million ain't coming out of their pockets. We would still pay for it somewhere. Even a dealership. Same principle. 300 tanks of gas a month will add up. Stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.

Just think of it this way, you nailed them so good on the price they were sick and couldn't come to full it up.

I didn't get a full tank either but did get a tremendous deal.

Lol bought a 2013, got a killer deal, and while they were giving me an orientation realized that they had not detailed the car yet so they wrote up a piece of paper good for one full detail and a full tank of gas. Our dealership kicks ass.

This.

I don't even remember how much gas was in my tank when I left the dealership. That's how significant it was in my decision on a $25k purchase.

Of course things could have changed over the years, however there was always two qualifying events that established ownership.

1. The vehicle gets registered with the DMV.

2. You drive the vehicle off the lot.

After these two events... then yes, there's no cooling off period on a new vehicle. I was always told all other documents and transactions can be withdrawn... but keep in mind, that was before the internet was invented.

A used vehicle is another story, you can pay up front for a cooling off period in California. State law...

I picked up my JKR 10A a week ago. It had 3/4 of a tank. They kind of cheaped out on that last quarter of a tank. What was the cost to fill it the rest of the way? 10 bucks? Still.....my experience with this dealer was excellent. The Jeep was perfect when I picked it up. My salesman was excellent and he comunicated well through the long wait (I preordered in Jan). They also told me that my first oil change was free. I'm not ready to make a federal case out of 10 dollars worth of gas.

There is no such animal as premium gas. The higher octane just means a higher ignition point for a higher compression engine. It does more harm than good and simply costs you more with no benefit.

What he said.

It's interesting to me that someone might buy a new vehicle, pay thousands, have it depreciate the same day, but it's the 80 bucks in gas that bothers them. I guess it's the little things.....

Maybe it's just me, but that is the biggest slap in the face I've had in a while. I just spent $30,000 and they can't fill up the tank?! I told the guy if the sale wasn't finalized I would have walked.

I'm so mad right now......
I picked up my 2013 JKUM a couple of weeks ago with a full tank of gas and a free oil change. My dealer says that's just part of their service.

I think your dealer is just being a cheapskate.

Left over 2012 JKUR in Crush with a 6sp...1/4 tank of gas in a $30K jeep...but they detailed it, and put takeoff 2013 Rubi wheels on it, then swapped out the 2013 TPMS for 2012 TPMS when that caused an issue. I'm not worried about $70 in gas. That's very small in the grand scheme of things and I need them to keep their lights on.

Take it easy, Mad Dog Tannen. Is it really worth it to get all worked up over a matter of $80? Id be more concerened with the bath you took on trading your 1 year old vehicle

This is definitely true! My dealer treats me like a king but also asks that I treat them well on their surveys.

Let me tell you. Working in high line dealers since the late 90's, the LAST thing you want to do is piss off the only Jeep dealer for 30 miles. Also the last thing you want to do is give them one less reason to help you. We look at those surveys and so does BMW when determing to help a customer with a repair that may or may not be warranty, or goodwill coverage after the policy has expired. I'm sure Jeep does the same. A legitimate gripe take it up with the dealer before you slam them. No gas on a $30k vehicle isnt one of them IMO. I have been hit on surveys for no reason other then the customer has a bad taste in their mouth, sales didn't explain a vehicle feature, to us charging them for gas for the loaner they returned on empty........

Did get the gas though.
