Question Flashing 3rd Brake Light

Has anyone on here come across a flashing 3rd brake light for their JK?

I'm contemplating converting mine over but haven't been successful with Google searches.

TIA!

If you have a 2013 you have a flashing 3rd brake light. Mine is a 2012 and it flashes 5 times or so then goes steady red.

Sho-me makes a LED that has different settings ie On,off, 3 flash, crawling etc. I got mine off eBay like $30 made a mount for it and wired it to plug into my trailer harness. FAR brighter than any brake light I could find...and the whole point of a 3rd BL is to been seen!

I installed this on my motorcycle. Works great and is legal in all 50 states. Should work in the Jeep. Although every now and then I get someone yelling at me that my brakes are shorting out.

Where did you read this? The 3rd brake light on our 2013 does not flash, it immediately goes solid red when you apply the brakes.

Sounds like it was a dealer installed option. I personally hate coming up behind people that have blinking brake lights. It's very distracting.

I'm a motorcycle rider as well and have used auxiliary flashing brake lights on almost all of my motorcycles.

I'll shoot them an email to try and find out if it works with the Jeep's CANBUS system. (If it'll work on BMW Motorcycle's CANBUS, then it should work on the Jeep's.)

I thought the flashing rear brake light was a stock item. They all had them at the dealership where I bought my Jeep. I remember there was a triangle shaped sticker on the back window which talked about the safety of a flashing third brake light. I checked my window sticker and its not listed.

Funny, I thought this was a 2013 thing as well. Mine flashes as well. There was no dealer sticker or any indication that this was not a factory install.

Some dealers do things to every vehicle in inventory. You must have purchased from one of those dealers. They charged you for it somewhere, guaranteed. My local dealer likes to add some kind of BS $1500 paint protection to every vehicle. I don't think they actually do anything, it's just something they can negotiate out of so you think you're getting a deal when you're really not.

Mine was a dealer trade, so it is possible the the original dealer installed the light. FWIW, it also had Wrangler decal on the hood. I paid somewhere between 1-2% under invoice, so I don't think any cost was passed in to me.
