I would imagine it sounds pretty much like they do on TJ's. I'm betting you can find lots of opinions on them.....

Had the 40 on my TJ. It was bad ass. Can't imagine it would be too different.

Do these things have any horsepower gains? I put this on last week and i was surprised to the fact that j did not have to downshift from 5th gear when going up a hill, in fact.. I was speeding up in 5th gear?!

Great videos, Mr. sin-mine sounds a lot like the JK with 40s. but louder and nowhere near as tinny as the TJ !!

Good comparison !!

Thanx-

how would you guys attach a new muffler to the cat converter with that funny connector. if i didn't go with a cat back, the muffler wouldn't have those 2 bolts on it, it would just have a strait pipe, so my question is how would you attach it to the cat? is there any opion besides a new cat?

The Flowmaster/Borla/MBRP/Gibson cat-backs all have the single entry and dbl exit, generally 2½" inlet and 2¼"exit, so they'll fit all with WELDING-

Mr. sins first video is a cat-back with long secondary exhaust pipes and thats where it gets its MELLOW sounds and resonance-

The Flowmaster 40 is just the right size to fit right in front of the Evap can and not stick any lower-FM 50 won't fit-

They can be flanged and clamped, but NEED WELDING --

How bout the dynomax? Running a $75 gift card when purchase promo right now. Is dual the way to go or single outlet, or is that just a matter of look?

There is no way to compare the sound of long dual exhaust to a short/long single exhaust--no HP/mileage/performance increase, but the sound is better than sex-

OOpps, well forget that, but it is KEWL !!

One of the absolute best exhaust tones I ever had fabricated, was on a 1949 GMC pick up with the old 230ci 6......the muffler had rotted out & I had a buddy weld a straight pipe on it.....had about 10 or 12' of straight 2 3/4" pipe that was bellowing heaven for a 16 year old kid revving up the poor old thing as far as I dared without floating the valves....drove the neighbors nuts too winding it out in all four gears and downshifting every excuse to ride the compression...but Dad finally took it down for a proper and silent mode muffler.

For about a week I was king of the highway though!

Thanks for the video Mr. sinister, awesome! IMHO, I think the 3.8 JK could use a cam though, the 4.0 sounds pretty nice. But prolly just go with the 40 series when mine is ready for a new one, the stockers are not SS so they will prolly be ready to change out in a few years anyway.
thanks

IMO duals on a jeep only belong if you have a V8

Cool, but you have to admit nothing sounds as sweet as a v8 and side pipes
