Fold down/up side step?

First I'd like to say I'm new to the forum and have been lurking the past month or two. Great bunch of people it seems but bare with me my laptop has crashed so everything is done from my iPhone and I'm not the best on it.

Anyhow I tried searching but could find anything I was looking for.

I'm in need of a side step for my girlfriend to get in my 11' JK Sahara. Took the side rail off because it just got in the way and didnt help her but she is very short so I need a drop step of some sort. Does such a thing exist?

Looking for something that returns in the upright position after use either sprig loaded type step or cylenoid (sp?) type that fold up tight for ground clearance but when stepped on comes down midway.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times tried searching on the phone as haven't found anything.

The joint of those things rust to all hell, because you can't really find them where they aren't exposed in my opinion. Get a stirrup that you can put in the side of the jeep that hangs out when you flip it over and out the door. They look pretty nifty too.

Best top makes a slider with a retractable step. I'm not 100% sure if it's automatic but I know it can stay up or down, whatever you set it to. Quadratec sells them

Check this out TF 2.5 Coil Lift and Retractable Side Steps Installed The step works great and looks good.to. Mine is the Amp Reasearch but Bestop makes one as well. A bit pricey, got mine on sale for $999.00. I realy love my wife

I have the AMP Research, they are very nice. They auto down when you open the door, up when you close. I like the looks better than Bestop (AMP look like a nerf bar when folded). IMO they are very safe, w/a wide very grippie board to stand on.

My wife's 2011 JKR has the amp steps as well and after wheeling off-road with them I will say that if you plan on riding through mud do not get these steps. They have a safety stop at the hinge that prevent getting pinched. If mud or debris get into joint the steps will not retract. Also they give no protection to body like a rock rail. They are aluminum and will break with weight of vehicle on them. But for a daily driver they are awesome!

they are the way to go with small kids or people who can't lift their legs very well.

Here's a link to a video showing how they work,
