Folding the soft top by yourself

What the heck??
Is there anyway to close the softop by yourself without getting into the back-seat and standing on the seat? I have a 2009 unlimited, and have watched the video several times, but That guy has an assistant. I have figured out how to close the top by climbing in, but I was just wondering if there was an easier way I am missing

I have a 2 door, I open the tailgate and stand on the rr bumper to open and close the soft top...
Once the hoops are past the rear roll bar post, then you are clear to do the rest up front..

Sorry I have an 06 unlimited and I have to stand in the back seat. Of course I'm 5'2" and I can't even reach the top of my Jeep. Just be careful, It really hurts when you hit your head on the roll bar.

climbing in is the fastest and safest way of closing the top. I have found that if you stand at the rear, you risk scratching the Jeep in certain parts (I learned the hard way, lol..) This is the easiest way just make sure your shoes/feet are clean, lol...

That's the way I do it, and I get frustrated every time.

When putting my top up or down I can do it by myself from outside. I'm 5'8" and I do have to stretch but it's a matter of releasing both clips from the latches, then grabbing the 2 bows that you fold back and lifting so the opposite side lifts also. Then slowly guide it back, not sure if my top is tight or if they all do this but you can pretty much release the bows and work the material to fold the top nice & neat to the rear (tailgate open or it will hit the brake light) To raise I lift the front "point" of the bows then pull/push up so the rods clear the top. Place on the rails and align with the latches and just click one then the other side. I have gotten it to where I can lower & raise my top in I guess about 5 mins either way, without having to get in or step on the seats

I have the four door and don't get into the back seat to put it up. I take the front and middle bow up together (folded back in the sunrider open position), lift it up to the balance point and then move slightly forward and put the plastic piece into the track and clip it into the latch. Then I close the sunrider part and fasten the windshield clamps. Then I put the plastic peices into the channels above all four doors, working my way from front to back on each side. Then I put the rear sails under the channels (rear corner pieces). Then the left and right windows go in, and finally the rear window. This usually takes 12 to 15 minutes.

I'm 5'9" and I've never had a problem putting the top down on my 08 4door alone without getting in the back seat.

The problem was with putting the top back up. not down. How do you do it by yourself?

I explained how I put mine up above. I reverse it putting it down. The tail gate is open in both putting it up and taking it down. Once you get the general idea, you will work out the kinks and the procedure will become "yours".

Not sure how to explain it, I just lift the whole thing up from one side, latch the catch above the back door. I walk to the other side and make sure it is in the correct place and latched also. Then I flip the sunrider portion forward and latch it.

Had it down today and I just walked out and put it back up a few minutes ago. ???

and....juuuuuuuust in case I hadn't mentioned in a while....I LOVE my jeep!!!

maybe it's a 4 door thing, but my 2 door goes easy and quick.

zip out both side windows.

un-latch those things above the visors.

untuck the sides that connect to the door frame.

standing near the door, I lift and walk it to the back from one side.

that's it. reverse it folding back up. it's tough hooking those things above the visor, especially below 70, with the rear window in (I never unzip it) and it connected above the tail lights. eat your wheaties.

I'm like 5'11 on a good day, but I'm usually doing this in flip-flops and my underwear.

It's tough on the 4dr. My TJ was a piece of cake. The new JK nearly broke my finger the first time. Now I stand in the back. I am only 5'7 and my jeep is lifted with 35's.

I did it by myself in the dark in less than 5 min. (by myself).

Open the tailgate, stand on the back bumper, push the top up and when it is laying flat, push the middle bow forward until you hear the pins click into place.

I was at work and let out a whoop when I did it!

Thanks to all the advice from my fellow keepers! Wavey

Are there any videos out there for how to install a soft top on a 4 door 2010 when it came with a hard top?
Not finding much other than how to put it up and down!

Ripnhl I have both tops as well and change them when the weather gets nice here for summer. its fairly easy to take off the hard top. and putting on the soft top is putting on the plastic assembly things over the doors, then bolting it to the rear roll bars and when doing this make sure to put the curved part against the bar so that the range of motion for the top is in the back or the top wont go up. anything else let me know
