The longer inventory sits on the dealer's lot the more it costs them. You should be able to negotiate a good deal. If it were me I would do all my research and go in there with an "out the door number" and stick with it until they meet it.
Logic would make you think there is more negotiating leverage on a year old model year, but many dealers don't seem to care. I remember I once saw a new LJ sitting on a lot nearly a year after the JK's were out. Couldn't get that dealer to budge, that thing sat there for months.
Also saw a new motorhome sitting on a dealer lot, parked in the corner, I could see it everyday from the freeway. It sat for well over 9 months, if not a year. Dealer wouldn't budge on it either.
Those two radios are different models not just different numbers.
Other than that, I think the warranty was shortened on the 2016 models.
The 730 is an upgraded and more expensive optional radio. The 2016 JK Limited Powertrain Warranty is now 5 yrs./60K miles as opposed to prior years which were 100k miles.
I bought a leftover 2015 Rubicon primarily because I wanted Baja Yellow. It turned out that I got a good deal and the 10yr/100k warranty. Very happy!
My advice- go for one of the 2015's that you found. More for your money, and the two best colors to choose from! There's too many boring black/billet/anvil/otherwordforgray jeeps around!
I looked at some 2015's a few months ago when buying our Jeep. I found two dealers with 2015's, including one dealer that had practically a fleet of yellow Rubi's and Altitudes. They did not seem to think that the value of the 2015 was dramatically reduced in spite of being a leftover. I assume that is why they still had them. The attitude seemed to be that someone would come along and want one, and if you wanted a yellow Jeep a 2015 was the only way you were going to get one. I actually bought our 2016 JKU BC from the dealer that had a fleet of yellow 2015's. I was able to get a better price on the 2016.
The 730N radio had some extra features. If I recall correctly, there was a nav function that allowed you to drop breadcrumbs when off road? Anyway, as previously mentioned, the warranty is the only significant difference between the 15 & 16.
I ordered my JKUR and I chose to stick with 3.73 gears. I knew from the start I would never go larger than 33" tires (which I did the week after the Jeep arrived). I also knew I'd be spending the vast majority of my time on the road (DD work commute) and I wanted to enjoy the ever-so-slight improvement in MPG with the 3.73 gears (at least I think there is a slight improvement in MPG).
I've been driving it for a year and never once wished I had anything other than 3.73. With my set-up I would not want 3.08 or 3.54's, but 3.73 seems to be just fine.
If I were going to 315/70/17's I'd definitely want the 4.10s.
Here's the problem if you ever want to scale your gears to 4.10 or beyond you are now talking about replacing gears AND carriers AND lockers on BOTH front and rear axles, it becomes a very expensive upgrade. This is due to the carrier break at 3.92. Whereas starting at 4.10 and you can get away with changing ONLY gears up to 5.xx (don't remember exactly).
Wiggle room depends on the dealer. Some are actually charging *more* for a 2015 than an identically equipped 2016 because the '16s switched over to a much less generous warranty. This was true for me as of a couple months ago.
At this point in the game though as we're looking at a new model year, I can't see that remaining the case. I have to imagine they'd want to get a '15 off the lot bad.
Cherry Hill Jeep has 2 JKUs to. Both Sahara manual trans ones and nicely loaded. Both soft tops in Hydro blue and trac loc and 3.73's too. Rare!
