I'm not sure if there is a thread on this already, so I'm sorry if this is a double post. I just wanted to share my experience.
I went trail riding this weekend with a friend, and I noticed something interesting and was kind of curious.
With all the electronic controlled equipment on the new Jeeps, it's kind of a pain to work with it sometimes. This weekend I was trail riding, and I popped it into 4-Hi to get through some mud holes and on the other side was a rock climb so I had to stop to throw it into 4-low. I decided that I wanted to use my lockers (because I can
) and I resumed my climb up the hill. Once to the top I took it out of gear again and went all the way back to 2-Hi and noticed that I didn't turn my lockers off. I thought this was curious, so I drove a short distance with them still engaged (keep in mind that I'm in 2-Hi not 4-Hi). Curious yet, I drove some more and they would not unlock.
In order for them to unlock, I had to go back into 4-Lo and then turn them off and drive until the lights stopped blinking at me. The more I think about it though, I guess that makes sense; I mean if the front drive shaft isn't engaged, there isn't anything to turn the lockers off.
Of course, I don't claim to know what I'm talking about and I'm probably way off. I just wanted to share this with everyone.
