First post ..I have been searching for a picture / measurement on how far RK stick out to be used as a step to no avail. I called PSC and they didn't have any exact measurements or pictures hoping someone already took the leap and bought the new frame versions. From what I understand they stick out a little farther and lower than the body mounted units. Not really interested in the Brawlers at this point.
I have a 2014 JKU bought in march upgrades so far RK 3.5 and 37 MTR..Protection/steps would be a great solution for my 5 and 9 year old and trails...I really like the look and durability of the frame mounted Rocker Knockers and was hoping someone can help me out.
Thanks and this forum has been a great resource for information
My friend has the original rocker knockers, and although you can used them as a step function, I would highly look at something different especially for your kids. Maybe the new frame mounted rocker knockers protrude more, but the using it as a step function you need to be careful. It does look great though. Measurements...sorry.
I say that because even though I haven't slipped on them, my buddy has.
If your looking for something as tough as a rocker knocker and can be used safely as a step, there are quite a few companies such as Ace, CBI Offroad (custom), Shrockworks, and White Knuckle Offroad.
the bolt on sliders function great too. I have never seen a broken slider except for a bent rubi rail.
I wanted to see what you end up doing. I read your original post I am in a similar situation. I have a new 2014 Rubicon . I love the look of the frame mounted Rocker Knocker but i still need it to function as a step as my wife is fairly short and my son also faces the same burden. I have the original Rubi Rock rails and debating on getting the Ace Rock sliders as an option. Curious if you pulled the trigger and if it met our similar needs.
