Freedom panels/doors off?

Does anyone run their Jeeps with the freedom panels and doors off but with the hard top still on? What about no doors and full hard top? I don't really have anywhere in my condo to store the full hard top so until I get a soft top it will likely be staying on. Just want to know which top/door combos won't affect anything and won't look completely stupid.

I run with no doors and the hardtop on once in a while when I'm too lazy to take it off.

Do it that way a lot. Usually more than taking the time to hoist the hard top off.

Gives you the open air feeling as long as you don't turn around.

I run front doors off and freedom panels off and rear windows down. I do that so my 15 month old daughter isn't fully out in sun

That was another thought I had. I've got a 13 month old son so I didn't necessarily want him in the sun all the time.

I run this way all the time because without a hoist or a friend or two - its more work than I care to exert to remove the rest of the hard top.

I run freedom panels off ,doors off and Dirty Dog sun shade on a lot. It can be a pain to take the full hard top off all the time.

Any combination works, but this is how it feels to drive with the doors and freedom panels off, hard top on:

I'm running doors off/full hard top right now. I was running doors off/back roof off/freedom panels on, like a hard bikini top (or what I call "golf cart mode"). I haven't gotten around to taking the panels off with the doors off and roof on.

I do that. I open the back window sometimes with that setup.

Are you the guy who created the metal struts to keep the window from bouncing around?

Nope.

I never had that problem. It seems to stay put pretty good.

Wish the window would just come out.

What's so wrong with a hardtop that has zip out windows?

Could ya toss up a pic or two of that setup? I've wondered about doing that with my '14 JKS.

Which? I can get you doors off + full top when I leave for lunch, but I'm not yankin' the top off today since it's gonna rain tonight.

C'mon man. He wants a pic of it. That supercedes any concern about the weather.

I don't, just because I have a Racor hoist and I can have my top on/off in under 10 minutes. The buffeting from taking the freedom panels off with the hard top is enough to drive me crazy, so it's all or nothing for me.

1. Try harder, or

2. Upload it to a photo hosting site and post the hosted link in an img tag

Does the tappawhatever app have some kind of limit? Did not know that.

I wonder if the buffeting is worse with the JKU vs the JK. I don't find it to be too much of a problem, especially with full doors on/windows up - kinda like a big giant sunroof. Was nice a few weeks ago when my GF could stand up on the seat and take photos while we were checking out the local graffiti wall, too.

That's very possible. For me it's like nails on a chalkboard type of sound/feeling.

Well I'm running with freedom panels and front doors off today with no issues. I'll likely keep it in this configuration most of the time.

Jeez, I have not had my panels in since I got mine and not noticed any buffeting on my JKUL. Dunno.

Last I heard they're working on it, but the "barn door" comes first (check that thread out). There's a version for the TJ and it's pretty sweet. I'm more interested in having sliders installed in the rear, but I don't know if it can be done locally and cost effectively.

I'd like to see apic of a 2door with the front Freedom tops on, but the rest of the hardtop removed. With or without doors. It sounds like an interesting and uncommon combo.

It'll probably be a few days. The girls don't like riding around in it like that 'cuz wind (seriously, I can't believe I keep 'em around) and we've got weekend plans. But, I'll make a note and if/when I do, I'll snag a pic.

For the time being:
