Question Freedom Top Compatability and other questions....

Hey everyone, I know there are a lot of posts on here about this, but I'm not sure I got straight answers to my questions. So, let's try. I found someone selling a 2008 2-door Freedom Top in excellent condition at a great price and it's pretty close to home. I have a 2009 Wrangler X 2-door. I have a few questions:

1) Will the 2008 properly fit my 2009? Are there going to be any kind of issues? I understand that there are some differences in the front latch. What exactly are the differences?

2) Will the hardtop fit over my stock softtop just so I can transport it home? I think I have to remove the plastic door frames. Anything else?

3) I heard there are some leaking issues with the 2008 top. What is the issue? Is it a major problem? Fixable?

You can email me at sdberman@verizon.net. Thanks a lot!

Steve

Negative?

You mean it won't fit? Or I don't need to do anything else?

The hard top will not fit over your soft top. fold the soft top down, or completely remove it before going to pick the hard top up. It will save you the trouble.

As far as them being compatible, there should not be an issue. I sold my 2010 hard top to a guy who had a 2008 and it fit perfectly. The only thing you may want to consider is that you will have to buy the wiring needed to work the rear wiper on the hard top window. The guy I sold my top to wasn't really worried about that and I agreed with him. I barely ever used the rear wiper.

As far as the leaking issue, there are a bunch of threads on here designated to that. It seems that not too many people have the leaking issues (I know mine never did). I think that people found the times that it leaked was when the top was put on incorrectly.
