Hey guys, on the pics below, there's a "hinged clip" in the panel inside near the rear nut fastener for the spindle screw. Anybody know what's this for? Em ...
Flip the hinge when you use the front freedom panels without the rear portion of the hardtop; it fills the gap (height difference). Make sure you flip it back when you run the full top.
Got the hard top on, this is the first time I had the freedom top off and back on. Took it off in the spring for the first time to put it back on a few weeks ago. On my test drive at higher speeds, > 45 MPH, notice wind sound around the driver side front left front.
Just got back and I think I figured it out, it's not clasped down as tight as the passenger side. All installed and I can push down that corner of the top easy and notice it move 1/8"!
So what do I do?
First thought is to "bend" the metal loop the clasp sits against just a smidgen to have the top sit tighter in the front/side cornet?
Found the source of the wind whistle on the highway! The top front corner of the door, rubber weather strip not pressing against the top part of the windshield/freedom top section. Took a piece of McDonald napkin (lol), stuffed it between the door skin and the rubber strip at the corner to have it come in contact with the inside frame more and voila, no more wind whistling noise! Now I just need to find something better than a piece of napkin, lol....
My jeep is only 4 months old, should I get the dealer to check it or just fix it myself? I'm affraid of the f#*k!ng it up..... Thougts?
