Front Bumpers???

I'm in the market for a front bumper to replace my blemished stock bumper. I have some questions and would love some feedback before pulling the trigger.

1. What do you think of the XHD Modular bumpers?

2. I don't have the stock front fog-lights, are the Mopar stock lights the only ones that would fit in the modular bumpers?

3. Does anyone think those XHD bumpers just stink and would be better off doing something else?

I don't plan on getting a winch for now, but if I wanted to add one later would the XHD's be the best route to offer the option to add one later?

I have them on my stock Sahara. I like the looks and how beefy they are.

I can't say that is your only option. The bumpers are pre-drilled for them, but I don't know if another brand will fit in there.

I have the storage end caps, but I can convert to a stubby in about half an hour. I like having options. Other people will have their favorites, so YMMV.

The XHD is very versatile, it takes most winches. I think some of the bigger ones need adapter plates, but out of the box, most will fit. Research that before you buy.

I have to caution you, though. It is heavy. Just as mine is installed is 155lbs. I can't add anything to it, until I do a lift. It dropped my stock front end 3/4".

Rugged Ridge XHD

BAM! you ain't kiddin'. This thing was a real mother to pick up. Took me and my brother and we could've used another person.

That being said, that bumper can stop a freight train.

I have the XHD with a Rugged Ridge 8500 Winch. Installed by myself and found out the hard way I had to install the winch on the bumper first. I am really satisfied with the bumper. I have seen other threads that mention using after market fogs. I'm sure you can find them on Quadtratec or 4WD. com

It's a good bumper. I don't regret it a second. You can add and remove all kinds of crap. Make it a stubby, add a winch, lights, a stinger...whatever.

It's tough too. I had an F150 back into it and it busted his stock junk...didn't even dent me

Thanks. I like the stubby look myself with the single bar. Maybe it won't weigh as much. Doubt it though.

What about a skid plate for the linkage? I didn't see any in the photos posted, but I know I saw one on JIMBOX's ride. Just wonder if they would match up.

I really like mine. It is a very well built bumper. One thing I do like about it is that you can change the look entirely just by adding one of several add ons or you can leave it stubby for better wheel clearance and approach on the trails.

Smile I love the bumper. Added to my JK 3 weeks ago.

I overhauled my JK and added the front and rear XHD bumpers. Thay are heavy as a few jeepers have posted, but look good with my 3 1/4 lift. I opted for the complete (not stubby) look. Just my preference...I feel it looks more finished. I have no complaints as of now.

There are a lot of great options out there. I was torn between an LoD Signature Series Mid-Width, Poison Spyder Brawler Lite and the XHD. I ended up with the XHD w/ Stinger based on ease of installation, cost, available options, the fog light inserts and quality. The others are great too though! Was a tough choice but I'm very satisfied.

Wow, we are a lot more restricted in what we can fit down here due to regulations about of all things pedestrian safety.... (pedestrians shouldnt be on the bloody road..) One of the only US bars legal down here is the AEV premium, but the price is way to much of a premium by the time it gets down here ($1,200 US with dollar parity at the moment, but with freight and other costs is around $1800 landed - to buy over the counter in Australia is about $2,200).

This is still my favourite though.

Due to cost though, I ended up with a second hand ARB bar, which strangely enough if I had bought new would have been cheaper to buy from the US and ship it back to Australia than to buy it over the counter in Australia... (its Australian designed and made if anyone didnt realise!)

This is mine:
