Front DS disco?

#1) Is disconnecting the front DS as simple as the 4 bolts (axle side) and securing the shaft ?

#2) replace bolts and torque to spec?

I asked the question in my thread but nobody answered.

Trying to locate possible DL vibrations, and have to rule the front first.

That will work (tying it up) or you could remove it, and not worry about it bang a bit over bumps.

Use a six sided socket or wrench.

They use loctite on some of these that require heat to disassemble. Usually a propane torch makes it real easy. On reassembly, I'd use locktite.

Wait! before you remove your front shaft know this... unless your transfer case is locked in you will cause severe damage driving on a single axel. there is a well to put it bluntly a giant spring that helps compensate when one axel spins faster than the other but if one tire is much smaller or one axel is disengaged you can easily destroy your transfer case. it overcoils the spring and ruins it... and to remove your driveshaft just unbolt the U bolts on both ends... there will be 4 bolts on the differential side and 4 bolts on the transfer case side.

been there done that. had a jeep and killed it splat... Denver Auto and diesel college. acura tech. ASE certified in auto tranny and electrical. 4 wheel all the time and I've killed more cars than you've ever owned

Might not be in your best interest to remove it and drive it. But yes, it seems the 4 bolts, on both ends and you are good to go

Thanks...

Ya... As far as what I read, no 4 WD while removed.. That would be bad lol

Just removing for a quick drive, there should be no problem.

I searched but not clear on how it's done.
Just " remove and support "
